I’m still mixed in this. He’s clearly having success which we obviously want here. He’s also such an obnoxious dbag that would be hard to route for no matter what sideline he’s on.
I know what you mean , but he is your dbag and winning Championships you would learn to like him.

Indiana sold their soul to keep Bob Knight who is one of the worst people in hell.
UConn will pay a toll for putting up with Hurley.
They should have lost in the FF last season when he head butted an official with .8 seconds left in the game.
Idk if it was a head butt with violence, but pressing your forehead on someone like that is weird as hell. He should have gotten at least a suspension over it. I've never seen a ref get touched like that by a coach and ignore it either. The entire scenario was bizarre.

If I’ve said it once I’ll say it a million times.

we should have gave Hurley a blank check. Literally whatever he wanted for him to finally say okay, that’s too much money I have to take it.
I've also said that it is easy to spend someone else's money........

It would have cost UConn a final four victory and the ref didn’t have the nerve to make that call.
The year before, Hurley made the vulgar statement on national television to the Tennessee team right after UConn was eliminated. There is a consistent history of Danny Hurley behavior that is wrong for a person in his position. I hope he gets his a$$ handed to him soon.

Him and that ref are buddies apparently.

Hurley not even in the same zip code as Knight. Outside of some of the sideline theatrics, he's apparently an amazingly good guy. The UK community would have embraced and loved the guy. The guy is a fierce competitor and he can't contain well at times.

Two things are true Hurley would never come to Kentucky. The other thing is this Rick Pitino was our coach. If you think Hurley is a jerk or a douche bag. You probably would’ve thought worse about pitino. Hurley would be embraced in love by big blue nation. I can’t imagine anyone who will have a hard time to root for a Hurley coached team if he were the coach at Kentucky.

Believe you’re in the minority. Not a fit at UK.
Anyone who would say Hurley’s not a fit at UK’s he is the fit. He’s outrageous. He challenges the refs. He speaks his mind he wins.

Sounds like the two most successful UK coaches in the modern era. But hey we need to hire good people who don’t cuss who are devout to their religion who would be at Kentucky to to change the hearts of men kids whatever. Come on man every UK Fan would go nuts would be excited the NIL money would fly. We will have 40 million a year in NILwith Hurley as the coach if we needed that money. I mean, the money would roll in donors would be so excited. They will feel like their money is actually going to make a difference. Anyone who says they wouldn’t take Hurley and love him is a loser or a liar.

Apart from being overly animated and honest, he's a rule following traditionalist, a big part of the community and an incredibly good human being.

I've listened to interviews with him where you can hear his hoops genius. Make no mistake, BBN would have wrapped their collective arms around that guy. He's smart as F, breathes hoops, does it the right way and is passionate. The contrary is what, a guy like Self who generally looks somewhat lifeless on the sideline these days? I'd take the passion all day long.

I was starting to find May a very close comparison in hoops smarts to Hurley, but now he's gone. I'm not convinced on Golden as of yet as he's still riding this front court for the third straight year. This is also a big year to determine what Scheyer is made of. He's underachieved in the tournament with two straight POY's.

I’ve seen enough from Hurley to not buy that he’s a good guy. I am so glad he’s not a part of my beloved program

Small minded. Humans have multiple facets. If you judge someone by animation on the sidelines, you are pretty much signing up to judging a book by the cover.

People here adore Pitino, who got hookers for his players at the Ville.

I don't think two blank checks would have hired Hurley to Lexington. He will go NBA or stay where he is for life. He has a great gig at UCONN with $$$$$, little to no pressure, and he and family loves the location.

How far outside of market are you willing to go, before it is simply outside the boundaries? I'm not sure what UK offered the guy. It also would have been a weird year to bring him on, the guy just came off B2B and was on a PR tour all summer. It would have been a brutal time to bring him into a new job. I'm convinced the reason they had a down year in 25 is because he was too busy doing TV gigs.

I don’t care about a single other programs success. I’m fine with every athletic dollar going to the basketball program if it means national titles.
that does matter tho, if we could afford to pay nerds a million dollars to do nothing then I’m sure we could have bought Hurley. No way he turns down 15-20 mil a year. UConn can’t touch that

You want to pay a coach 2.5x top of market? That would be seen as insane. No, UConn couldn't touch that. That would be the highest paid coach in sports, nevermind college hoops.

Agree but for damn, he would be difficult to stomach. I can’t stand northerners. Egotistical pricks. However I’m sure the winning would cure all of that.

I’m completely fine with him being the most outrageous douchebag in the whole world if he were to come here and get us the wins he has got at UConn. I honestly don’t care if he brings Katina Powell in as an assistant coach if he came here.
Hmm. What if he would come here but his must have request was bringing in Tom Crean as an assistant? Still take him knowing Tom Crean is running the streets in Lexington?

I think we offered him damn near that. More like 12 or 13 milly a year. That’s just insane money for coaching a freaking sport. If Mitch wouldn’t have handed out dumb contract after dumb contract, I’m sure we could afford it. I believe we start paying Stoops buyout like tomorrow, literally. Freaking Mitch.

They should have - they couldn't hit an open 3, generally outplayed Florida. Who knows what they would have done. Even this past year, didn't seem like the best roster but Hurley's formula wins in March. The only thing that stopped them from winning it all was a super talent Michigan roster.

You act like UK has endless money. UK athletics just took a loan from the school for the first time ever. Rev share and paying stoops $8mil/year isn’t helping.

So, the blank check is out of the question. Why would he come here when he can win titles at UConn?

Yeah I don't really get that either.
He's the highest recruit out of that crazy good class left, Khamenia is actually second. He was banged up last year apparently, Dad said he got hurt early in the year and never got his normal pop back. I'm still unsure myself. He's going to play the 2G this year, which at 6'6" will be better for him.

The upcoming draft is way up in the air, so much to play out. No slam dunks other than Stokes.

UK fans love a-hole coaches. Let’s stop acting like we don’t. CMP is probably one of the least-fitting coaches personality wise we’ve ever had. Even BCG would’ve been loved if he was successful and not a drunk bum.

UK coaches gotta be able to politic the UK fanbase. If you can’t do that you end up with a restless crowd.
Name one

Good point ! Yeah, I have thought next draft is gonna be a lite one, which may make for some interesting picks.

Super light - anything can happen. It's Stokes and a giant pool. They're also saying the 2nd round may be pitiful because all the seniors are getting granted another year as part of 5/5.
