As I said last night, as a UK fan I have been fortunate enough to have been around a few former Cats in my day and thought I would share some stories to those that might be interested. Disclaimer, not every story is going to be wild and crazy and some of the info may have already been shared on here before. But remember its free. So enjoy...or don't. I make the same money either way.

I remember reading on here the buzz that he was headed to Florida or Memphis and laughing. It was always Kentucky. There were two schools he did give serious thought to though. Duke early on and Vandy was more of a serious player than people thought. Duke actually got in trouble for contacting him during a no contact period and backed off shortly after. Vandy was close to home and Alex is very close to his mom, grandmother and sister. Plus, the education angle. Alex dreamed about working for Nike more than he dreamed about playing in the NBA,. UK's Nike connection and the fact they offered his sister a volleyball scholly sealed the deal.

The funniest part of his recruitment was the Memphis pitch. Josh Pastner barely talked to him but instead had Luke Walton call him several times just to brag about his NBA days. Not very effective and they were never seriously considered.

My interaction with Cal.

Got to meet him at Northeast High in Clarksville, Tn. Was super excited and immediately let him know I was a UK fan. Not sure what I was expecting from that, but what I got wasn't it. He immediately tried to sell me his app that tracked his recruiting for a monthly charge. It was odd but I will say, what you see from him is what you get. He's the same behind closed doors as he is in front of the cameras.

Calipari is a narcissist ahole. He was before he took the Kentucky job. He was during his 15 years here, and he still is at Arkansas.

I had to get some labs in Lexington and got to sit right beside Aaron Harrison. Awesome conversation right before SEC tournament and he was super cool.
Ran into Billy G after a game he was a prick to all the fans signing autographs.
I was in Fayetteville mall and thought I seen 2 aliens got up close and it was orbzut and shigari. They were both nice.
Got to play against Rondo in highschool. Well got to watch him from the bench, I was only a freshman.
Met a lot of other players. Of course GOOSE.
Got to meet Scott Padgett, he was my favorite wildcat when I was a kid. The most player I’ve been around is Jeff, I’ve always seen him and Stacey out many times. Don’t live far

Saw him sleeping in the lobby at Blazer one morning at about 7:30 am. Boxers and a t shirt. Rest of his clothes laying beside the couch.
You mentioned Tates Creek Rd the other day. Am I misremembering or did Rick put that place on ban for a while? I remember that place became public knowledge for a place to witness basketball players in the wild and he wasn't happy about it. I do recall a certain story about Jared, naked twister and the police. But cant remember if it happened there or somewhere else.

I'm 90% sure he was by himself. I would pay good money to see the police video of him trying to convince the cop he wasn't driving.
lol. I’m trying to remember how he said it’s like j said, we were partying but I’m damn near certain he said he was by himself. What’s funny is cause I remember him taking us to a party in like a Honda accord and he drove and his seat was literally as far as it could go. It was hilarious.

lol bro. You have no idea. F it. It’s been long enough. I for sure ate acid with Jules. Talk about an experience. It waa like 5 in the morning and we were all tripping balls and hungry and he said call someone, I can’t remember if it was McDonald’s or papa John’s or something like that, he said call them and they would open it up for us. Lmao.

Plenty of more stories and half I can’t even remember to be honest.

I got home from Two Keys once and walked into my dark apartment, turned on the light and Keith Bogans immediately shot up from the couch and, with extremely foul language, told me to GTFO and turn off the lights. He was apparently there to try to hook up with my neighbor and got rejected/she wasn't there. I don't know. I also don't know how he got in there and my roommates when questioned didn't either. Keeneland/football tailgate double day. He was just one my couch.

Still wished he could play against Marquette.

So let me get this straight.

Multimillionaire John Calipari was in a gym in Clarksville, Tennessee, recruiting Alex Poythress. He ran into this guy, found out he was a UK fan, and his first instinct was to try to sell him “his app” that tracked his recruiting for a monthly subscription.

The head coach of the most visible program in the country supposedly had a recruiting app that nobody had ever heard of, was openly pitching it to random fans while recruiting, and the media that couldn’t stand Calipari never said a word about a coach selling recruiting info.

Makes perfect sense to these people.

Never stop laughing at them.

Actually I believe I misspoke. Don’t believe it was an app but a text machine or something like that. Maybe if I feel like it I will Google it. But maybe not, you only seem interested in a tantrum so best not feed it.

Camara was more talented than any of them IMO. Was wild because Stone was like top 3 in that class with Bogans. IIRC, he was rated higher than Boozer.

Oh, OK. It wasn’t an app, it was a “text machine.”

The head coach of the most visible program in college basketball, a multimillionaire in the middle of recruiting Alex Poythress, stopped what he was doing to sell recruiting updates through a “text machine” to a random fan he just met in a high school gym.

The story somehow got even more believable after the correction.

Never stop laughing at the joke that they are.
