Could you "bear" it?

This lady has high-t. 😲

"A woman hiking in Canada nearly became a grizzly’s next meal and the video circulating right now is genuinely one of the most intense wildlife encounters you will ever watch - her dog is with her, a massive grizzly is right there, and somehow she kept her head together long enough for both of them to walk away breathing.

That is not a small thing. Most people talk tough until nature is standing ten feet in front of them and every instinct in your body is screaming to run, and running is exactly the worst thing you can do.

Grizzlies are built to chase, they top out over 700 pounds and can cover ground faster than any human alive. The people who survive these moments are the ones who override pure fear with pure discipline and this woman did exactly that.

If you hike, camp, or spend any real time in the wilderness - bear spray is not optional, it is the difference between a story you tell and one somebody else tells about you.

Could you have kept your cool? "

Hats off to her.

Have done many a hike in grizzly country (Glacier, Banff, etc). I always bring spray when in bear territory. I like to believe I would keep my head together, but it is hard to say for certain.

Closest encounter was tent camping in Glacier when some kind of bear was sniffing right outside the tent. No idea if it was a grizzly or smaller black bear, but that had me nervous as hell. No one wants to be the meat in a tent taco.

Plan on a transcontinental bike trip in the next couple years. Grizzlies is my biggest fear after cars.

I will be packing spray and hopefully hotel/populated campgrounds in grizzly country

We have black bears up at the summer home in Cumberland Wi.
Had a 600-700 pound black bear walk right down my front walk 5’ from the house.
Seen it in the window and jumped up and closed the front door. This one was big enough I didn’t want to be close to it. Black bears are usually not aggressive except when cubs are around. Not taking any chances with this one. It was hit by a car 2 days later and had to be Finnished off by a deputy.

Funny story. I was on Tyndall AFB, Florida of all places. I'm sitting there enjoying a few beverages and watching TV around midnight. All of a sudden, it sounds like a trash can got turned over. I'm thinking, these young troopers are going to get everyone by trouble being "stupid". I'm thinking, I'm going to go out the door and give these young "whipper-snappers" a good what for. I walked out the door, and there was the black bear standing less than 15' from me. I threw my hand up, and said, "have a good night" and walked back in my room.

The bear attack scene in The Revenant was one of the most terrifying and disturbing scenes I've ever seen. Insane.
That was 100% real what happened to Hugh Glass. Later, he forgave Jim Bridger because he was only 19 at the time. Hugh, literally crawled, walked, and traveled by water for over 200 miles to reach Fort Kiowa in South Dakota.

I was on the Yellowstone fly fishing about 20 years ago. A Griz came up behind me on the bank. Nothing serious, but was within about 20 or 30 feet of me when I was wading. Dropped into the water, filled my waders, and floated downstream.

Not nearly as serious as the mountain lions I encountered on the Mongolian Rim on East Clear Creek in Arizona. My Springer wouldn't shut up, and kept barking. We got the hell out of Dodge asap. They are pretty common on the Rim.

Wasn't Hugh Glass Jan Brady's fake boyfriend?
