JQ will never be as good physically as he was when he averaged 10 PPG as a freshman at Arizona State, against ASU schedule. To me, that is one heck of a gamble at #20, and all this knowing that he has to have knee surgery 18 months after his previous knee surgery.
I think it would go a long long way if JQ and Sharpe would make a donation to UK basketball as a thank you for providing for them.
I’m sure both garnered thousands of dollars from nil to med care, tuition, meals etc.
Will never happen. They were mercenaries, awful ones. Probably never once thought about UK before they were contacted.
Anyone that thinks that JQ intentionally stole their NIL money needs to keep their $20 next time and put it towards something less risky.

Exactly, my thoughts are that he won’t play thru the discomfort. If his knee is sound then he could probably play. I sure would try, how many people go to work daily with bad knees, hips, backs and whatever else that can’t even afford a doctor most times? Nobody will ever know the true story, but I think most people would have given it a go especially after months of rest for the tournament at least.

In the case of a college athlete seeking NIL money, give me the feeling that you care about the program and the fan experience, and you'll get more NIL money, sponsorships, and jersey sales. It's kind of like, you go on a date with a girl for a week and then it doesn't go anywhere and you part ways. Should you stalk them and treat them like crap? Of course not. But should you really care what they do from here or support their future dating endeavors? Also no.
He really was hurt more than suspected by many including myself. Hope he recovers. Just adds to the frustrations and what could have been last year had everything gone right.
I said this all along but the haters kept hating so I left it alone. JQ is a great kid and lives/dies basketball, I hate it for him that his knee may never be the same because he would have been a stud and fan favorite if he would've ever been healthy here.

In sports you'll get paid based on potential. It's always been that way and will continue to be that way. Pope needed an impact player so he gambled. The Spurs don't "need" JQ immediately so they're probably okay with him continuing to rehab. If he bounces back, he'll be an impact player on a team that just went to the Finals. A college coach was always going to take him and an NBA team was always going to do the same. None of this is shocking or unbelievable lol.

Why should he come back and rehab at UK when he can be the 20th pick and rehab with the Western conference champions. He made me mad but I can't call him stupid.

He’s a losing player that will never play in a really meaningful game in his life. But he’ll make lots of money. Which is all that really matters to some.
I think he did a smart thing, he was never gonna get big minutes this year anyway. Clean up the knee, take a full year to heal and go balls out next year. I doubt this surgery decision was done in a solo vacuum. Pro teams are not as stupid as many think (well some are, looking at you Bengals ownership). Good luck to him I guess. I wont care if he hits it big or never plays a game. He is gonzo from the Cats.

He had a good agent who took care of his client. UK had a booster who deemed him worth the risk.
