Hats off to Ben for wanting to improve the Hawks schedule. Two neutral site games against Creighton and Alabama. The Izzo model to prepare for the BIG conference and tourney.
Because they are coming off an elite 8, and have one of the best coaches in the country. Fans have to show up this year. With 2 neutral site games against quality opponents and talk of a 3rd how do you get people excited to buy non conference home tickets when the neutral site games are against more quality opponents?
If people get more excited for Robert Morris and SEMO than Alabama they need to check their priorities. And their pulse. With 2 neutral site games against quality opponents and talk of a 3rd how do you get people excited to buy non conference home tickets when the neutral site games are against more quality opponents?
Like paying full price to see the stand ins for a broadway showIf people get more excited for Robert Morris and SEMO than Alabama they need to check their priorities. And their pulse.
I don’t, I haven’t paid to see an Iowa Home game in any Sport for 30+ years.how do you get people excited to buy… tickets?
It doesn't seem like it as most have been announced by now, looks like we are playing more neutral site games this year(3) instead of playing in a MTE...Iowa still looking to do any non conf tourney like the one we did last year for ole Miss and Grand Canyon games?
I keep hearing the argument that moving good non-con games out of CHA will disenfranchise season ticketholders. However, today's pay-for-play environment requires investment from the fanbase at large, so getting games in front of more potential donors is a no-brainer. I have vowed to not pay money into collectives, NIL, etc., but if they keep engaging this part of the state, I could change my mind. With the Virginia Tech addition to the schedule it is the ACC, Big East, SEC and Big 12 conferences on the schedule. Central Iowa and Northwest Iowa are going to be able to see the Hawks easier. Ben and Beth, really get it.
It might be where some either don’t buy tickets for nonconfere other than isu. Why pay good ticket prices when the best part of your schedule is at other neutral sites in Iowa?I keep hearing the argument that moving good non-con games out of CHA will disenfranchise season ticketholders. No.Iowa still looking to do any non conf tourney like the one we did last year for ole Miss and Grand Canyon games?
Appears to be so. 3 neutral plus isu at carver and at Xavier. I’m fine with spreading out 3 P5 neutral court games instead of tourney. As long as we are getting some good games with Q1 quality type of opponents.No.
I don't think the Hawks are allowed to play in a T'giving tourney this season - that or couldn't find a place to slot in somewhere - thus the need/reason for the 3 neutral site games against major conference opponents.
Excited to see Trey Thompson more than any other new comer to be honest. Most of the team is back and very experienced (yes, we lost Stirtz, but we gained a very tall dude and a capable PG replacement). For that reason, I like our chances against other P4 teams we play early. I have not looked up how much turnover teams like VaTech have but I'm guessing its more than Iowa and it will take time for them to gel. Plus, I think BM knows what he's doing.
