I’ve been playing Football/Championship Manager for 30 years. On my current version (2024) this is a 3rd round League Cup fixture against Swindon for my Liverpool teams….that automatic button…full rotation…. makes it easy. We sometimes lose those, but who cares. Not even my current demanding Arab owners care about that kind of fixture.
The Arabs were getting ready to fire me last season when I crashed out of the Champions League at the first knockout stage….got the dreaded vote of confidence….then I came from way back and won the EPL for the 4th time. New season is early, top of the league, but Arsenal can pass me with their games in hand. I’ll say this for the Arabs, I can understand why they would sack me if I don’t win. I’ve been playing this game as Liverpool, as I said, for 30 years. I’ve never had this kind of money to spend. With my current team there are basically only 8-10 players that could improve what I have, and even I can’t afford them. If you want to get a good idea of how world soccer actually works, I can’t recommend that game highly enough.
How is it watered down? Have they changed the set up? Or did we just get incredibly lucky? Or what?

IF the US were to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina they would play the winner of Belgium and a third place team from groups A/I/J. Right now that is Senegal but it’s still up in the air.
Fortunately Belgiums golden generation is getting a bit long in the tooth. And never really lived up to the hype.

Seems like they’re all been there forever. They’ve got some legitimately big time individual talent. But never really meshed as a team. But I feel a lot better playing them in the 5 th game of a tournament than the 1st. Can’t sleep on Senegal though. They are capable of beating Belgium & USA on the right day.
