How much money do videos like this cost carnival? I don’t know what the typical carnival cruise is like, but there are enough videos like this and worse out there that I would never get on a carnival cruise. I’m not risking being stuck on a boat with that tire off environment.

You and the others wanting to shy away from fight club are not their customers anyway. Plenty are willing to shell out the $299 for a state room, all you can eat skrimps, and 10 rounds on the leedo deck.

The wife and I went on a Carnival Cruise about 7 or 8 years ago and figured out that we are not cruise people. Now a days you couldn't pay me to go on a cruise especially Carnival. My in-laws wanted to do a family cruise next year and I hurt my mother-in-law's feelings by telling her I refused to go.

The most shocking thing about the video is the amount of pajamas and shower caps.

Is that really the case? I know they have that segment of the market, but I assumed that was semi-accidental to get that reputation. They recently banned a lot of things that seemed like they want to try and distance themselves from that reputation.

I can definitely see not being cruise people, but I wonder how much of that had to do with you being on a carnival cruise.

My family likes cruises and we use to sail on Carnival, but are branching out now that they changed their loyalty system. After experiencing other cruise lines I can definitely say my opinion is it's just the clientele, especially on their shorter (cheaper) cruises and depending on where you sail out of. We did a short cruise on Carnival out of Galveston a few years ago and the people were terrible. Last year we did a short cruise on MSC out of Port Canaveral and it was completely different and was a great experience.

I also hate Carnival's 15 per day drink limit. Not that I hit that limit a ton, but I don't like counting my drinks on vacation. But it's interesting that they are one of the only cruise lines with that limit and they still have all these problems. Royal has no limit and MSC has a 15 drink limit with their package but you can buy more after that, so no actual limit. Yet, you don't hear about them having the drunken problems that Carnival does.

I can say the ship we sailed on wasn't the newest boat in fleet but wasn't bad just a little outdated. The other passengers were not as bad as what you currently see on social media. Granted we went on a 6 or 7 day cruise so that limits the clientele due to price.

The issue was we just got bored on sea days. I can't stand to sit around and do nothing and so is my wife. Also being around that many people for an extend amount of time really wore on us by the end of the cruise. We spent most of our time in casino to pass the time till our next meal. We spent so much time at the craps and roulette table we got our drinks comped for the entire cruise.

Never been but nothing about it sounds like fun. And being trapped in a crowded ship sounds like the worst part.

They need to price those folks out of the market then.

Had a coworker that swears by MSC. He and his wife go on 2 long cruises a year.

I have been on 2 carnival cruises, 30 years ago. No fights, that wasnt a thing then. Horrendous cruise mate though, so I suffered anyway.

I love a cruise, but you have to choose the trip with discernment.
A cheap 4-day Carnival traipse through the Bahamas is going to be exactly what you expect.
Four to seven days on Norwegian or Princess or Royal Caribbian will be noticeably better.
(If you take it through Alaska or Europe, even better. Get out of the Caribbean and your experience improves quickly.)
A week on Celebrity or Holland America or Disney or Virgin will be quite nice.
A week on Regent or SilverSea or Oceania will be excellent.
A week on Crystal and you'll be spoiled for all other cruises in your life.

These are nowhere near the same experiences. You get what you pay for in terms of service AND environment.

I like your style! I am for sure a drinkin man but I did the math on Royals unlimited drink card vs paying per drink and determined I may come out ahead 2 days but no way I could achieve 8 drinks per day for a whole week.

The fact that carnival has to have a 15 drink limit to enforce is all that needs to be said haha.

I am no cruising expert, but Royal Caribbean's drink package seems to only be a deal if you get it for half the max price.

But if you are drinking good coffee every morning, getting lots of bottle water, and also having some drinks, it's not hard to make the math work out. If you don't mind the house coffee and tap water, then it gets hard to justify even at the lower price unless you are drinking pretty steady.

I will say even when it doesn't make it cheaper, there is a lot to say for the convenience of just asking for what you want. Also, I made the mistake of trying some of their specialty drinks, and most of them were too sugary to drink, and it was nice to be able to try them and not finish them without feeling like I wasted money.

I'm primarily a corporate meeting/event guy, with some cruises along the way. I have performed mostly on Crystal all over Europe, a transatlantic crossing, a couple of south Pacific trips, and an Indian Ocean transit. I did perform on MSC. It was a pretty nice ship, but very crowded. Also my experience there was different because it was a KLOVE Christian Radio cruise rather than just a "cheap Bahamas cruise." Also performed on American Cruise Lines on the MS River - an older demographic. I've cruised as a passenger on Princess in Alaska. I guess counting performances and passenger cruises I've done maybe 17 or 18 cruises?

But I have friends whose entire careers have been spent performing on ships on all the lines and we have talked shop over the last 25 years. When I want to know what's up with a cruise line, I have people to ask who know the ugly truth and know most of the ships like the back of their hand.

Alaskan cruises are the best. I could just hang out in Skagway. Two breweries and a distillery. Mountains, ocean and libations in an old west town! And there's gold in them there hills!
