Like it or not, until UK has two or three players on a list like this, we won't be contending on a consistent basis. Sure, every now and then a team comes together nicely and outperforms expectations.

In this list, Zona, Arkansas, and Duke have three each and UConn has two. Not surprising that these four teams are in most Top 10 ish preseason rankings.

I certainly wish I had high hopes for this upcoming season, but something tells me we're a long way off.

Talent matters. People focus too much on Cal winning 1 title. In his first 11 seasons he UK in the mix vast majority of the time.

His issue was not focusing on combining more veterans with the frosh. March is also random, luck and officiating cost UK probably 2 more titles as well. Winning a title is tough.

I have read much about the 27 and 28 Draft Classes and some are saying they could be the worst in years. It will be a weird time to see which players opt for the draft next year.

Cal's coaching cost UK more than two titles. Arkansas can have him..

He didn't roster build, he just recruited 5 stars. Roster building is an art and a science, building complimentary skillsets, personalities, tenures.

I look at what Hurley has done, where he seems to mix the wide breadth, always has upperclassmen leaders on the team, a couple first round picks, a top freshman and a couple portal kids. He uses the full spectrum to construct.

Scheyer has been a bit all over, seems to be still finding his lane.

Lmao so MM was a borderline first round pick in an extremely deep and just a great draft this year, 2026? At the same time, he’s projected to go as the last pick in the horrible 2027 draft? Yep, makes all the sense in the world. And also, lmao at anyone taking BR seriously.
Yeah the more u stay in college the worse yo ur chances are at being a high pick, if u stay in college u really have to show improvement

Meh. One season in this scenario isn’t make or break. I mean there’s several non freshman on that list. Your point is moot.

Last year, the 2026 Mock Draft had:
#3 - Cameron Boozer (drafted 3rd)
#8 - Koa Peat - Arizona (drafted 30th)
#10 - Dame Saar - Duke (still at Duke)
#13 - Braylon Mullins - UConn (still at UConn)
#22 - Isaiah Evans - Duke (drafted 2nd Rnd, #33)
#27 - Meleek Thomas - Arkansas (drafted 2nd Rd, #34)
#30 - Dwayne Aristode - Arizona (transfer to Oregon)
#32 - Patrick Ngongba - Duke (still at Duke)
#33 - Nikolas Khamenia - Duke (transfer to UConn)
#37 - Karter Knox - Arkansas (transfer to UL)
#38 - Alex Karaban - UConn (drafted 29th)
#45 - Brayden Burries - Arizona (drafted 10th)
#47 - Motiejus Krivas - Arizona (still at Zona)
#59 - Solo Ball - UConn (still at UConn)

So those 4 teams had 7 players projected 1st round, 4 of which made it ~ 2 barely. They had 14 players projected to get drafted altogether and only 6 did.

I bet guys like Ngongba, Landrew (bench player), Andrews (bench player), Howard (bench player), Toure (bench player), Kharchenov will all suffer the same fate.

This season feels highly variable in terms of how it lands. I don't see a lot of certain talent going into this year outside of Stokes. The freshmen of this class look really young.

Holt was the miss Pope will regret the rest of his life if this upcoming UK team gets bounced before the Elite Eight. He was a job-saving level recruit, and one that would have fit with Wilkins/Diallo/Milan/Moreno perfectly.

Instead, Pope went all-in on the weirdo Stokes.

Mock drafts a year in advance are as valuable as used, wet toilet paper.

It’s something to talk about in the offseason, but chances are the actual draft won’t look a thing like this extremely early mock. Let’s at least play a few games first.
A few have come out since the draft and they are all over the place. Also, with the 5/5, the second round will be really watered down since most seniors will be coming back for another NIL year. It's going to be a massive dropoff.

The quality of CBB next year vs this past will be night and day. Feels like the kind of year where the best coach wins.

On3's firt mock is loaded with Razorback's. They have Toure lottery here, stole him out of UConn's backyard. UConn didn't put up much of a fight. I bet Cal gets more satisfaction winning that recruiting battle that he does winning tourney games. And I bet Hurley doesn't give two ***** because he's focused on winning tourney games.

Moreno will have a Nick Richards type jump in his play this season and be a lottery pick.
