The dude never started a game and played only backup minutes at Virginia, so it’s easy to see why he was surprised. I’ve seen plenty of freshmen non-starters get drafted on potential, but that’s a MIGHTY rare thing for a senior career bench player to get drafted.

But he does have one elite skill (shot blocking), and apparently that one skill was enough to get someone to take a chance on him. And the very fact that he was there in attendance shows he knew there was a real chance this would happen.

Congratulations. Him and Shagari would frustrate the hell out of me for not being consistent. Nerlens was so satisfying till he was injured.

I think he was aided by the new NBA big man arms race. Every team is looking for a big man to try and guard Victor now

Very cool. He seemed like a good kid, and I hope he can make a roster and stick around for a few years, even if it's mostly two-way contracts.

Glad for him. I actually hoped he might stick around and be a key bench piece for us, but understand why he didn't.
