Man, queue the conspiracy theories if that draw holds up. Not only the draw but never leave pacific time zone until the semi finals.

USA is actually locked into their position and cannot move. Others will move, but we are poised to have an incredible path to the semifinals.

Yeah the dates times & locations are locked in. Right now the opponents look very manageable. But without looking at every possible scenario across 4 groups it’s possible a top team could wind up in this quarter of the bracket if there’s a big upset in one of the other groups.

edit: just scanned other groups. I strongly suspect Spain will take Uruguay's place as winner of that group.

To be fair that gives us a better match time.

The math shifted again today, has us playing Ecuador in R32 now (this will change daily and won’t be fully settled until next weekend).

I feel like either Belgium or Egypt is winning Group G and therefore your most likely R16 opponent. Both beatable. This isn’t 2014 Belgium. You’d have to deal with Mo Salah if it’s Egypt but still winnable.

The figuring of the third place teams is so dang complicated though.

Still showing us playing Ecuador because if it was held today that’s who we’d play. But unless they beat Germany they won’t make the knockout stage. Fortunately for them Germany has nothing to play for.

I don't think we'll know for sure until maybe after all this weekend's matches, but I'd like our chances against Jordan for sure.

I just hope we don’t catch a solid team that somehow has a bad game and falls into 3rd in a group. Most 3rd place teams should be very beatable if we play the way we have been.

Algeria came back and won, so it flipped to us playing Algeria.

A lot of the projections think it ends up being Bosnia, mostly because they play Qatar in their last group game and are expected to win that. But as of right now Bosnia wouldn’t make the cut for the knockouts.

Not that rankings tell the whole story, but it looks like Algeria is ranked 28th - so pretty similar to Australia.

Jordan was like 61st before this last match, and Bosnia is somewhere around 65th.

Algeria is just who we would play as of now. Still most likely Bosnia / Qatar winner. If those two draw then it will be someone else.

Mo Salah against our back line? He ain’t what he was, but still…..
Fortunately he didn’t have much help. But just realized he’ll be going against Tim Ream. So yeah, that’s not good. We’ll have to give Ream a lot of help & pressure their midfielders.

Yeah but at that point in the World Cup you’re going to end up playing someone with a player like that.
