To each their own. I wouldn’t have taken Quaintance in the first round - too much risk and too little college game film.

Agree. An entire year gone. Then another half year to get back into the game.

So basically paying someone for half a season of production before its team option decision time.

I guess theyre trying the stockpiling approach they see okc work so well.

It may not be as serious as an acl this time around. Possible meniscus tear or similar, with a MUCH faster rehab time. I'm not a big fan of his but if that is the case, he could be a bargain at 20th in this draft.

Personal feelings aside, I kinda like the pick.

Honestly I hate JQ, I hope he does awful in the nba and can serve as an example of why you don’t let your loser dad live vicariously through you and burn every bridge you crossed.

also spurs just wasted their pick. Spurs should be in win now not wait 2-3 years for somebody without a distinct game/play style.
You hate a 19 year old kid that you’ll never meet because he didn’t live up to your expectations playing the game of basketball.

I’m being nice when I say this: you’re an absolute loser of a human being.

Why you white knighting over JQ? news flash JQ isn’t going to see this and kiss you. If I made millions playing 4 games of basketball I could care less what some dude on rupp rafters says

that’s said JQ sucks and I hope he is a bust

But doesn't this information officially confirm that he was being honest and that his knee actually was injured? I'm confused as to why this news wouldn't cause you (and all of us who either thought his camp was lying or weren't sure what the truth was) to reassess our take(s) on Jayden? I remained unsure about the whole thing but I certainly thought it was a distinct possibility that he was choosing to protect his nba future over playing for us. This new information tells us for certain that his knee actually was injured and that he and his camp weren't being untruthful throughout this whole controversy. I actually feel bad about the whole situation now. It sucks it played out this way even if I don't blame anyone or any side.

So he wasn't really injured? I don't think it was a bad pick by the Spurs since JQ was the only player left with star potential and the only time a player with star potential is left at pick 20 is if there are injury concerns. The Spurs had an obvious need for a 4/5 guy who could defend and rebound(they have all the scoring they need at the 1-3 and 5 spots) and if JQ gets and stays healthy him and Wemby will be a dynamic combo. They were probably choosing between JQ and Cenac for this pick(Celtics got a gift). Besides, they've got 3 of the first 14 second round picks to get some help for next year.

Just saw that they picked up Tarris Reed Jr. for one of their seconds and a future second rounder. I kind of look for them to swap the remaining two seconds and a future pick to move up and get Veesaar. They will be absolutely loaded in a couple years.

Oh yeah I’m just supposed to completely forgive JQ because he was injured. Hell no, you need to get into the real world. 4 million is a lot of money and it isn’t just magic money rhat comes from no where. Real people donated money to kentucky to pay JQ and what did he do for us played 4 games and never once tried to act like Kentucky meant anything. Honestly if you told me JQ was the in house Manga expert I’d believe you.

I’d completely forgive JQ had he tried to come back for year 2 but he was never going to do that.

also injured my *** he was doing tons of pre draft workouts and looked like he was in absolute top form. If his knee still hurting at this point I’m not sure he was ever meant to play basketball.

For anyone with common sense, this is the thought process. For those that live and die by 18-22 year old kids dribbling a ball, you get a different response.

We were taking a chance on a really talented kid recovering from a surgery that has an incredibly high recovery rate. But the recovery rate isn't 100%. It's in the 90s for ACL surgery these days which is a fantastic recovery rate and made him worth taking a chance on. Unfortunately for us (and him) he was in the very small minority of patients that don't have a clean/straightforward recovery from ACL surgery. It happens. But no one is to blame here.

Damn some of you are crazy. The second surgery proves his story as to why he barely played last season. Kid did nothing wrong and gets a ton of hate.

I met him twice and he honestly came across very respectful and nice. I wish him the best.

Yup. The distance the internet creates in human interaction/communication really changes/eliminates the boundaries that normally exist. It's both comforting and frustrating that almost every one of the people who post toxic **** like this online would never in a million years be this kind of ******* in person. ☹️

People are projecting frustration on him because we spent a lot of money for almost no impact. But that's on Pope, either making a bad decision or being unable to sign anyone else of note and taking a risk. But this would seem to prove he didn't play for a good reason.

I would argue JQ could have been a lot more open with the fan base about the status of his knee. The optics of it were this... played well at St Johns, didn't play well in the next game, "oof my knee's a little sore", "maybe I'll play, we'll see", "I'm out".

I get he wants to protect his draft stock, but I'd put a message up on my social media page talking about how it makes me sick I can't be out there, here's what's happening with my knee, I love UK, etc. Instead it looked like he was a little aloof about the thing.

I don’t know why anyone would bash him since it seems like his knee really was a problem for him. Played a couple games and realize the knee wasn’t right. You probably didn’t want surgery before draft and I know because I read an article and on Spurs media site before they picked them that said that they were going to pick him at number 20. It was a lot they knew they wanted them. They say he was the missing piece from this season so. They’re gonna wait but they’re probably gonna develop him. They have a plan for him. I can’t find the article anymore. If I run across it I’ll link it.

But being a Kentucky fan, I think it’s wrong to bash on them, knowing that he has been legit injured

It doesn’t make any sense why the spurs would think he’s what they were missing this season and then have him sit the next season out. Unless they think Tarris Reed is worse than JQ and are going to have Reed be holding JQ spot for him
