Does anyone have a link to the UL GoFundMe?

This has been known locally but it’s funny seeing it exposed nationally.

I do not understand what has happened to Our athletics at the University of Kentucky, but we are also running a very significant deficit- very near what U of L is experiencing. And historically our athletic department RETURNED ITS SURPLUS back to the University. There are a number of buildings on campus, like the new Biological Sciences building that were built using these surplus funds. And with Texas and Oklahoma now in the conference, I bet it wont be too long before all SEC schools are getting 100 Million from the shared TV revenue.....

you don't understand why, all of a sudden, universities are running a deficit in athletics?

It's fun to rag on UofL, but reality is they are but one a litany of examples of where things are headed for pretty much everyone. Even UK is struggling now to stay in the black because of the current pay for play nonsense.

Rules....caps....antitrust exemption....changes are coming. The current path is unsustainable.

Big difference between being in the red adjusting to the new NIL rules vs being in the red 5 of the last 8 years. Also SEC/Big 10 TV contracts are just starting to kick in, UofL does not have that on the horizon.

Not surprising. How many former coaches and AD are they still paying?
We’re paying Stoops and Mitch way more than they pay any of their coaches/AD. So, let’s not cast stones on that front!

UL as an institution has financial problems. It has for years. In the athletic department Jurich ran a circus. It was a hot mess. Tyra had his hands full when he took that nightmare over and started actually applying accounting principles. The school, the med school, and most aspects of UL have real problems. There is more to contrast than to compare between UK and UL with UL the worst for the comparison. UL has traditionally been a commuter school with the exception of Speed School. It is stuck trying to keep enrollment strong by admitting lesser qualified students and trying to attract higher caliber candidates. Not an easy transition to achieve.
