Spurs guards wore out SGA in the playoffs, he was exhausted by game 7 and they didn't really have another ball handler. Picked by a great organization and a needed position.
Ajay Mitchell was a bigger loss for them than anticipated.
I personally think that he is the best PG Iowa's ever had. Very smart and under control handler/passer, great stepback moves, can drive or hit the 3 equally well. Pretty good on D. Sucks we couldn't have him another year.
It will be fun to see him get minutes in the NBA. I don't think he'll ever be a starter, but he is good enough to develop into a solid backup.
Oh, and friendly reminder to all, the officiating in the Big Ten last year was some of the worst I've ever seen. Iowa got tilted out of about 5 wins, totally fake 9 seed, and it showed come tourney time. Even when they finally lost, Illinois' PG got away without about 3 pushoffs and 2 travels, while Stirtz didn't need to get away with anything to be effective. He was the best PG on the court in that game, too.
