Probably all just wishful thinking but it would be hard to ask for a better package deal than Cal leaving the SEC, punking Arky, and bringing UM down a few pegs all as icing on the cake after we snagged an AD from the other Michigan.
Nah, I think UK is the last school Cal will punk before he retires.

UK should have worked out a deal with Tubby in 2001 to get Pitino back here. I know the argument is that Tubby won the '98 title, but even at his zenith, there was no question Pitino was better my a mountain mile.

You have to be bold in life. UK lacked that boldness in 2001.
Pitino faxed his resignation to Boston from his Miami Beach home, ESPN News interviewed him that same day, you could see the beach & ocean through the glass doors. The people I know in Lexington told me that UK boosters were down there golfing with him, he was trying to find out through them how much interest Tubby had in the Atlanta Hawks job. At that time Tubby had been rumored to be interested. The Michigan job was there for Pitino to take but he took the wrong one in UofL, he's regretted that decision ever since I'm sure.

Didn't Michigan already promote Mike Bouton to interim coach?

Interim is the key word there. So it isn't permanent, at least not yet.

With the amount of money they're willing to spend on revenue sports, they should be able to make a big hire.

I haven't seen the Twitter chatter about violations, but what can you even get in trouble for anymore?

Since the numbers are not public we will never know about NIL expenditures, but Michigan has way more money in general than Arkansas. Articles I've read since UM won the title also put them right at at the top of NIL spenders. I'm guessing those articles are conjecture, though.

No one is touching the top half of the big 10 in money spent on revenue sports. No one. That's been very clear for a few years.

I’m taking the interim tag for Boynton to mean that they aren’t committing to a long term deal with him that runs past this year, not that they’re leaving the door open to replace him next week if possible.

The actual interesting part of this will be how aggressive they are in moving on from him after the season. His track record as a head coach is not impressive, but this Michigan team should be significantly better than anything he ever had at Oklahoma State on paper. If they have a good year, will they give him a chance to take the permanent job at the risk that it turns into another Rodney Terry at Texas situation, or are they planning on having an open search pretty much regardless of how the season goes? They would definitely be an attractive job if they open it up.

I think Cal would crawl to Ann Arbor if he could but knows what it would do to his reputation if he did. He's a lot of things but he's not stupid.

It was posted on X last night that Michigan is going to be hit with some serious violations and very likely vacated wins, at minimum and was the primary reason Dusty left.
Posted on X. That was debunked, I believe. Is there any legit news source suggesting that?

Who were the two people that shared the same last name that the OP said were related a while back? It was like Sheray Thomas and Frank Thomas are brothers or something that bad.

It was a knee slapper, one for the ages.
