A Texas fan crying about a team having too much money is poetic.

Only softies who are worried TTU would kick their teams *** on the field could get themselves worked up about this
I think the deeper issue was the use of injunctions to provide eligibility while waiting for a clear legal outcome. It started with covid eligibility, then moved on to juco eligibility, then guys being injured five years ago wanting one more year, then just guys playing for contenders wanting one more year, now guys gambling....definition of a slippery slope. The injunctions are universally put in place by biased judges in courts situated in the home state or even town of the team benefiting from the injunction.

There is seriously a guy playing LB for Miami this year in his EIGHTH year.

So I heard that he gets to keep his TECH NIL money ...true or false ?

That’s what I heard they were saying too. Which is absolutely wild.

Yeah, I heard that too. But, just like everything else in this whole saga, I'll be shocked if that's not a moving target too. Felt like the kind of thing you say publicly as some sort of legal CYA while the lawyers are sharpening their pencils behind the scenes.

Or maybe Sorsby saw where some of the bodies were buried throughout this whole thing and they all mutually decided to just keep quiet and move on?

Tech has so much money they can pay a qb 5 million to NOT play

Imagine the powerhouse OK St would be with Pickens and his financial backing in the current state.

Jeez no doubt, man. NIL came along like 5 years too late for the Pokes. Now, apparently all that T Boone money is controlled by his kids/grandkids who couldn't care less about OSU sports.

Still, the only reason they did have the success they had was because of his money. So, there's at least that.

Damn why can't Buffet be a football fan?

It is crazy to think how little (in comparison to his wealth) that he would have to give to make such a huge difference.

With that said it is pretty clear that Buffet has no interest in helping out NU athletics.

Yeah, Tech took the high road in saying they were trying to help him through his gambling problem, they knew he was a gambling addict, that he had gambled on his own team, and would need treatment. They also knew the QB portal was closed and were screwed if they didn't have him. So they played the good guys, acted like they were helping him. Now it doesn't look good if they sue him for merely doing exactly what he was supposed to do. Next time this happens it might save them 5 million to merely say, he is our qb until he isn't.

BS they said he had a gambling problem and they blamed everyone else including the NCAA. TT got exactly what they deserved here. If the POS Cody Campbell wants his money back Sorsby should tell him come and try to take it from me and I am not talking through the court.

the irony of all this sorsby bombast is that his sophomore backup, 4* will hammond, may be a better quarterback. he had offers from aTm, oregon, penn state, and a raft of others. so this in itself will make for an interesting watch come fall. txt is a big favorite to win the b12 even without "the gambler" at qb.

If they thought they were good at QB . The 5 million would have went elsewhere.

Buffett is an investor. There is no tangible return on investment for bankrolling NIL. He's an alumnus and a fan, but he's an investor first. Sounds $hitty, but its really that simple for him.

Money is pointless unless you spend it. He gets off by taking money and making money, but if he was a fan giving a tiny % of your total worth to win a college football championship is a huge return and will create memories for millions which last a lifetime. Humans get huge payback from their tribe winning, some might even say it is worth all of the money in the world. What % of college football fans like their team more than their own kids? They certainly like their team more than folks who can't read or live in poverty, so give it to football.

trying to put a bow on this, supposedly cincy was alerted through an ap required to be used by players that sorsby was logging in to place a bet. they called him in. he said he was denied access. there was no proof otherwise. he often used proxies to wager. there was no ncaa action at that time.

then after sorsby landed in lubbock, the ncaa was alerted. no one knows by who. but it may have been a state gaming commission - or maybe, surprised not, cincy? using tools available through wagering industry oversight the ncaa caught him. that was march. they alerted txt. it soon became public.

so cincy very well may have not known what was going on. or they may have been the snitch. not confident we will ever know.

Warren Buffett is a piece of ****. Period. He is progressive lib that supports climate change, socialism, and every other thing you can imagine under the progressive umbrella. He would rather spend his money on that than his children or his alma mater.

buffett seems more a pragmatist than a political warriors like george soros.

"I could end the deficit in five minutes. You just pass a law that says that any time there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for reelection."

this is how many of us outsiders put a bow on sorsby. supposedly cincy was alerted through an ap, required to be used by players, that sorsby was logging in to place a bet. they called him in. he said he was denied access. there was no proof otherwise. evidently, he was often using proxies to wager. the ncaa took no action at that time.

then after sorsby landed in lubbock, the ncaa was alerted. no one knows who did that. but it may have been a state gaming commission - or maybe, surprised not, cincy? essentially using tools available through wagering industry policing, the ncaa caught him. that was march. they alerted txt. it became public.

cincy very well may not have known. or they may have been the snitch. it could have been a bearcat assistant, an ex-girlfriend, the gaming commission - none of us know. betting is not against the rules unless a player bets on a sport in which the ncaa awards a championship like baseball.

i still believe this works in txt's favor. will hammonds steps into the role, wins the b12, and tech goes to the cfp again rallying around their sorsby chip. karma!

I agree with you completely. Buffett simply isn't wired that way. Unless there is a massive surprise in his will, I expect no change in his approach.

I was reading an article on his options now . He could try and take legal action against the NFL and force a supplemental draft ( unlikely) go play in the UFL or Canada. Or just sit it out and go to the 27 draft. The problem is he will be coming off no football production for a year and Next years QB class is going to be the strongest it’s been in a few years.

I’m amazed that Sorsby didn’t even attempt to defend why he wanted to enter the supplemental draft and what he is doing to get better. He just assumed all he had to do was file and the NFL teams would line up to take him with a high pick. It’s feels so good to see the NFL tell him he needs to spend the next year in rehab and learn to be accountable and not run away from his problems if he wants a chance next year to be eligible for the 2027 draft.

The wording in the NFL’s statement is startling. They scolded him like a child.
True. But it was also a slap in the face of his lawyers and representatives.

"Instead, even after receiving notice of the NCAA's decision rescinding your college eligibility in May, you sought to avoid the consequences of that determination through litigation rather than accepting responsibility for your actions, and you pursued entry into the NFL only after abandoning those efforts."

Intellectually lazy. If voters didn't want the spending, it would end. Eliminate all members, including fiscal conservatives trying to limit spending? Voters would just find someone else to spend money, and those going to DC would have to make money quicker. It's a virtue signaling sound bite a bit simple for a guy with his intelligence.
