366 doesn’t reach the limit of having a problem. Hunter knowingly was in control of every bet. Poor whittle Sorsby couldn’t control his addiction due to his mental health disorder. Comparing apples to oranges here. I feel bad for Sorsby, all this hate, sad😢
Sorsby deserves the public shame he is getting right now. Every little bit of it. He knowingly broke the rules and if he handled this better after getting caught, he certainly would have gone in the 1st or 2nd round of the supplemental draft. That's an amazing fallback plan. Go to rehab, do all of the right things, and he's still a future franchise QB with a great salary. None of the other kids who got caught had that. Instead he and his attorneys blew up the system.

The more egregious elephant in the room for me in all this is I'd wager with confidence that a large % of locker rooms have at least 1 guy suiting up who is betting on games in some way. So all of these comments from ADs might come back to bite them in the ***...
Of course they will. The question is how is it handled. Turn the player in? Or petition for reinstatement and have the player in question sue the NCAA? Tech is shady as hell. And that is why every school and every conference is calling them out.

Sorsby's lawsuit will be dropped long before then. They got what they wanted. Money talks.
although the defensive back that transferred to Indiana last year wasn’t a gambler I believe he sued for another year of eligibility the judge granted a injunction so he could play and a trial was set for late January or February, after Indiana won the championship the kid dropped the lawsuit. So technically he was ineligible

Yep. That's the game that is played now. Big money attorneys, just get an injunction. Never mind actually trying to prove your case. It's never about that.

Any school that is refusing to play TT because of gambling...that ends up with any athlete in their school making a bet, needs to also refuse to play any games because of #Integrity.

Why? Now I would agree if the institution does not police themselves. That is what the moratorium is attempting to leverage---simply that TT police themselves since the judgement has taken that tool out of the hands of the NCAA

Because of #Integrity

If the school recruited those evil gamblers and did not police them 100% of the time to make sure that they never once made a bet, they are no #integrity.

If you are not policing your players 24/7, you don't have #integrity...or something.

Then the last the school should do is try to help any of their players when the do something wrong.

I disagree. If a team has a guy making bets, that's one thing. But do they self report it? If so, then it's not as bad. Or if they didn't self report it, but they accept the ruling because it's an extremely important rule? Then that's also not as bad. Tech didn't report and didn't accept the ruling even though Sorsby broke the rule hundreds of times and admitted to it. And Tech is planning on reaping the benefit of playing an ineligible player. Therein lies the difference.

That's ridiculous. You sound like you are defending Sorsby or Tech now. No school can police all of their athletes 100% of the time and should be held accountable for doing just that. It's about how you handle kids after there is a major infraction.

As far as I know, TT and/or Sorsby did nothing illegal at all.

Then they followed the rules in place to try and stick up for their player and/or were okay with him doing all he could to stick up for himself.

I don't have an issue with him doing that.

"Brendan Sorsby engaged in underage gambling by placing thousands of wagers while under the legal age of 21 in Indiana and Ohio before turning 21 in January 2025. Court documents and NCAA filings reveal he wagered at least $90,000 across his college career, including using proxy bettors and other people's accounts to bypass age restrictions and state laws.

Specific violations include placing bets while physically located in Texas, where online sports betting remains illegal, and funneling over $60,000 through a FanDuel account registered to a friend. He also placed at least 40 bets on his own team, the Indiana Hoosiers, during the 2022 season while still underage."

He only broke a few laws, he is/was being investigated by state and federal gambling agencies.

There you go! He should be kicked out of school and be off the team for doing something that was against the law because of his age.

Any student and/or student athlete doing anything that they are not of legal age to do should be kicked out of school. I 100% agree.

I thought he was of age when he did it. Thanks!

You may need to dig deeper. He in fact did break laws. Also the rules of gambling on the team he is affiliated with. I know you will should at the clouds that he did nothing wrong. But you have an Incorrect stance on this.

I literally just said I was wrong and that he should be kicked off the team.

Same with any other player that does something that they are not of legal age to do.

Or they can make sure said player doesn’t play and kick them off the team. Which if TTU had done that there wouldn’t be any blowback.

Sorsby broke the law when he gambled. He broke major rules when he gambled as a college athlete. Texas Tech acted solely out of self-interest when they supported their star QB. It's all about winning in the short term. Everything else be damned.

It is really just all about winning period. Which really is fine, it is all most of us care about anyway.

For me it's not really the gambling component of this that is alarming. It's the fact that this guy/school has tilted the system by timing this restraining order so that it will be next to impossible to prevent him from playing this season. I'm not going to be hypocritical and act like there isn't rule or law breaking going on all over the place, I'm just saying I'm depressed that the sport I love has zero ability to enforce any eligibility rules. Also, lets all agree to not be pollyanna and pretend like we don't know there are scales to things and context has meaning. Sorsby was an EGREGIOUS gambler.

Like I mentioned a kid that transferred to Indiana last year for a extra year of eligibility a judge put in a injunction the trial was set for late January February, once the season was over he dropped the lawsuit, his lawyers knew that so essentially this kid started to ball rolling. You all think cegnette does everything on the up and up. You figured wrong he just as slimy as lane and others

I'd love to see TT opponents publicly state they won't play TT this seaaon if he stays on the team..

..or in lieu of rhat, the CFB playoff committee publicly state TT will not be invited to the playoffs for the same reason. I did a little research on that and I think they can do it.

The court can allow him to play if the injunction is upheld. The NCAA however can vacate all of TT wins. Of course, another lawsuit could be filed on that subject. The playoff committee could also ignore TT when it seeds the bracket. Lots of things still to come. If this is allowed to go forward, virtually none of the other rules in College Football will be enforceable. Sorsby would have been better off going into the supp draft.

I know several Tech alum who are livid about this. They wanted Sorsby cut the second the news broke of his gambling. They tell me a very large number of their fanbase oppose what's going on right now and the AD's support of him playing.
Unfortunately, Cody Campbell is pulling the strings there and he doesn't give a **** what the Tech fans want.
A Texas fan crying about a team having too much money is poetic.

Only softies who are worried TTU would kick their teams *** on the field could get themselves worked up about this

What the actual **** are you talking about? "Conference titan?" Texas Tech? They had one good year, calm down.
I'm talking about the fact they skipped to the playoffs in their first year of serious financial backing. Yes, that's all it takes to be a titan of the Big 12.

Wayyyy too many Chiefs fans in here getting their panties in a bunch about "b-b-but he broke the law"
Then they quickly shift and go "Well, the real issue is that he is using the court system and that the school is on his side"

Like, all of a sudden we care if a kid drinks underage or uses a fake id.

No, that's not all it takes to be a titan of the big 12. I'd say something about your emotions, but stupidity isn't an emotion.

The NCAA needs to figure out it's morals. I get banning a player that gambles against their own team while playing in that game. AFAIK, Sorsby never did that. Instead, they ignore child rape and allow institutions involved in it to continue on with nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Right? Where are all these super integrity filled schools when it comes to playing PSU or MSU?
