That would appear to be the case and I think in that order of importance.

If we can take care of business with at least 1 of the remaining 2 WR targets, we will have a class that has accomplished the goal of meeting all of its needs and anything we add to it will be like a cherry on top.

I like Penn State’s recruiting class so far. However, I do think there is one need that has yet to be addressed. It’s the speed WR to stretch the field and keep the defense honest. While Hall and Taylor would be very good additions, neither is considered a speed guy. Jamir Dean was supposed to fill the speed need. I suspect the portal may be another option to pick up a speedy WR.

Is this Campbell’s biggest recruiting win so far? The kid seems like a player and OU wanted him bad. Telfair with Michigan, OSU, other major offers? Guertin with his offer list? What’s left? WR, CB, DE/Edge?
Actually, Oklahoma has 2 commits that are higher rated LBs. Witten and Epps. According to 247 Witten is ##57 overall and Epps is #119 prospect in the nation.

It's easier to just hit the ignore button than trying to understand why some are constantly negative
You know, I used it for the second time ever. And it’s a shame because he knows football but he’s completely gummed up this recruiting thread with his morning post barrage and the responding posts (of which I am guilty for way too many). As I say that, me even posting this is gumming it up, but I’m looking forward to reading some actual recruiting news now.

Why? Because your goal is to beat Ohio State. This is about you. You spent 12 years crying about big wins.
My hope for PSU is to win every game. However, I don't whine like Marshall and yourself at every post. You two claim to be fans of PSU and yet EVERY time (NOT SOMETIMES BUT EVERY TIME) someone posts something we should celebrate or at the least be happy about there you and him come to denigrate or point out why we should not be. Both of you are no more PSU fans than BGJ. That's why.

Not exactly the news we wanted to hear about Khalil Taylor's Nebraska visit - but yet to see any prediction switches. Taylor called it his best OV he took.

They're throwing a bag at him and it's going to be tough to turn down. I understand that he likes their highly rated QB in the same class, but Rhule ain't exactly known for his QB and WR development. I mean our Assistant Coach just demolished Rhule last season after our season had already gone down the tubes.

Feels like another we'll just have to wait for again in the transfer portal.

OV aside, I still think he's coming to PSU. Distance and stability highly favor PSU. NU doesn't have anything PSU doesn't have, so why go all the way out there?

They probably upped their offer since Matthew Gregory from Pottstown spurned them for UCLA. They were the favorites for Gregory for a long time.

I can see PSU prioritizing Taylor and making sure he's taken care of. We can't let all of this PA skill position talent leave the state, especially someone who really wants to come to PSU.

No chance I'm jumping ship this year. I'm 100% for the Cylions. PSU has 9 opponents "without a pulse" on it's schedule and a brilliant game day coach strolling the sidelines. I'm riding this year to Indy for the conference championship and the first "big win" vs Ohio State, Indiana or Oregon. Planning on at least one, perhaps two playoff games.
Now after this season, if the talent acquisition doesn't improve, I may consider my options.
What happened to you quitting the Board and crying in your Ovaltine? Something about the injustice of Franklin only getting a dozen years to get an entire sugnature win?

If anyone is watching Norway vs Senegal tonight at 8:00 pm, keep in mind that Norway's young star Erling Haaland is physically almost identical to Landon Blum.

Haaland vs Blum
Height: 6-4 vs 6-4
Weight: 196 vs 200
Vertical: 35" vs 38"
40 speed: 4.5 vs 4.5 (estimated for Haaland)

If winning the big ten title and 2 playoffs games aren't "signature wins" then Campbell is in trouble. Now perhaps he will get more sugnature wins?

If you must join the BWICAC and echo platitudes to be a "true blue" PSU fan, then I'm guilty.
I'm 100% guilty of insisting that recruiting is very similar to what it has been for the last decade.....good....but not good enough to get PSU into the "elite" category. Filling your roster with talent like Alexander is wonderful, if you sprinkle in 3 or 4 game breakers. We haven't to date. Therefore, I don't see success beyond the level we've seen the past decade (in 2027 and 2028).
When we sign a game breaker, I'll lead the cheers!

I don’t see anything wrong with the post. He provided perspective and new information. I appreciate that.
They can't handle the truth. Someone inferred that we snatched a prized recruit from Oklahoma. A blatantly false characterization. I thought it odd. So I checked their commits. A simple look at their 2027 list of commits would show anyone that they have two highly rated LBs in the barn.

Factual? Oklahoma may have passed on Alexander because they had 2 higher rated LB recruits. Cheerleaders here post similar things all the time explaining why PSU didn't really "miss" on a recruit. But hey.....

Perhaps if he gets a dozen years to try he will. Buckle up!
He'll get 4. If PSU doesn't win 10 in three of the next four years and see the playoffs once or twice (in addition must beat Ohio State at least once and Oregon as well).....there will be widespread unrest.
There are luxury boxes to sell and without measurable improvement over Franklin's record....it will be hard to sell "excellence at the highest level."
But back to recruiting, did you see Notre Dame just got a commit from a top 100 #12 rated receiver in the nation? They now have 2 five stars and 11 four stars. Why aren't "real" PSU fans asking why ND is so far ahead of PSU in recruiting?
We have. according to sources here, the biggest Addidas deal in college football and Kraft promised increased NIL resources.
Where are the game breakers?

Well, here's my 2 cents on that subject. Notre Dame has typically recruited better than Penn State and they are not experiencing a change in head coach. Penn State rarely lands 5 star recruits. I believe that there are at least 4 or 5 members of this 2027 class who will earn a 4th star by the time they sign. At the end of the day this class may have close to 15 4 star kids.

Notre Dame fans are upset and embarrassed that in-state rival Indiana won a natty. It’s as simple as that right now. They have a motivated fanbase who is more willing that the PSU fanbase to support NIL. Our donors were just burned by Franklin wasting their money. They finally opened their wallets for the 2025 season and Franklin turns around and gives stupid money to back ups like L Clifford and we have perhaps the worst non-covid season since the dark ages.

If you look objectively at the 247 team rankings, there are many schools who have an abundance of commits rated "88" or "89." It's possible that some will secure 4 stars while others will move down in the rankings.
There is nothing wrong with building a foundation (roster) with high 3 and low 4 stars. That will likely (with solid coaching and a bit of good fortune) get you in the top 25. Is that excellence at the highest level?

Sounds like a lot of excuses and excuses are for losers. "Our donors" never produced top 10 money for Franklin. So there's that. It makes perfect sense to fire an "unsuccessful coach" and then refuse to give the new coach resources to succeed.

Not yet....but a good foundation leads to a solid, sound building. From your post, I suppose you didn't think Franklin had reached "excellence at the highest level". He very rarely recruited a 5 star athlete....and typically lost out on the best in state talent to the SEC.

McGee will announce his commitment tomorrow, 6/24 @ 7pm according to this article. Also, this article from yesterday indicates that it's the writer's belief that we're running 3rd behind SMU & Texas.
