Recruiting is very generic now and the school name has no value. Minds are easily changed by the $$$ and they may not know where they signed until their ''handler'' tells them.

Agree to an extent. I wouldn't say school name has no value. Bama or Texas is still going to open a lot more doors than South Carolina. In general, though, yeah you are seeing talent more spread around b/c of NIL.
Certainly, when I say school name has no value I'm saying recruiting is no longer institutional but financial.
Some here see this as a "happy thoughts only" zone. I live my life in the world of reality and honesty.
not sure I would say recruiting has been all bad, did we not just receive a commitment from a 4 star DB?
For the record, I'll never contribute a nickel to NIL. I'm a diehard Carolina Gamecock but it has gotten way out of control. I have 3 grandchildren, that's where I invest my money.

Really sad it all comes down to money! We don’t have the big donors to compete with the top 10 programs or top 20 either. I just can’t see giving my hard earned money to a system where coaches and kids can come and go as they please. It’s definitely for the rich and famous or people that just aren’t seeing it as I do!
I don't understand how any fan of any university can feel good donating to NIL, knowing that players bought for next season may be gone for the following season. What's the point? So, you have one great season. You will have to give about the same amount for the next season, and the next, and the next, etc. Is winning THAT important? I could have understood adding a reasonable small amount to players' scholarships, room/board, books. But the amounts through NIL is ridiculous in my opinion. Yes, coaches get paid and get paid more than they should. But at least coaches have finished their educations, married and have families to support. The players are just kids. The nomadness of college athletics has taken the fun and enjoyment out of the games. I can watch the NFL if I want to watch professional athletics. I might feel differently if I was a college athlete. But I'm just a fan. This "here today, gone tomorrow" players is not appealing. I think it's unhealthy for and detrimental to college athletics.
How about a school (any school) go totally divergent! Hear me out. They say NO to NIL. Zip, zilch, not a penny! They recruit only players who wish to play simply for a scholarship and the love of the game. They make it a matter of pride. Wear it like a badge. A working man’s team. Even if they never made it to a bowl game, that’s a team I could get behind and become a fan of. Yes, I ended that sentence with a preposition.
Also add a coaching staff who accepted salaries in line with the school’s faculty. I would love following such a team. And I bet I’m not the only one.

I just wonder when are high school players going to want to get paid? The high schools make a lot of money from fans attending games.
I would bet it’s already happening! There are a lot of high school players transfering, that has to be expensive for some of these kids to travel farther and or move your family!

Speaking of inflation, just an aside: my wife was in Washington all last week for the DAR Continental Congress. One drink of Bourbon and Pepsi cost her $31.00. She and the other girls complained to the bartender about the cost. He said that it does include the tip. Whoopee dip. smh

I don't know about that. We took a number of key recruiting hits there in a short period.
The recent commitment hasn't changed that reality.
It has hopefully given us some much needed mojo on the recruiting trail.
