Captain Houseboat: There are five (5) sentences in your post, above.. They need to be scored for accuracy. I will handle that.

Sentence No. 1 - Just plain wrong. Wildly so, and you compound your problem by making your statement so absolute. ("[A] total lie." LOL.)

Sentence No. 2 - Correct. This was the most accurate, and best, sentence in your post.

Sentence No. 3 - Perhaps correct, but the party platform of the Republican Party was, at its founding, about a whole lot more then anti-abolitionism. I have included some information below to educate you on that.

Sentence No. 4 - Partisan, ludicrous, and laughable. It says more about you than anything, and not in a good way.

Sentence No. 5 - See my comment regarding Sentence No. 4.

Here is some information concerning the establishment and early public policy views of the Republican Party. Read and learn:

Yes, the Republican Party was considered highly progressive when it was founded in 1854. Formed by anti-slavery activists, it championed modernizing reforms, individual liberty, and the total abolition of slavery.
Their early progressive and reformist platform included:

  • Abolitionism: The party's core mission was to stop the westward expansion of slavery and eventually abolish it.
  • Economic Mobility: They championed "free soil, free labor, and free men," arguing that ordinary workers should reap the benefits of their own labor without having to compete with unpaid slave labor.
  • Infrastructure and Education: Republicans passed sweeping modernization laws during the Civil War era, including the Homestead Act to give land to settlers and the Morrill Act to fund public universities.
  • Federal Power: They utilized a strong federal government to enforce equal rights, fund the transcontinental railroad, and create the nation's first income tax.
Over the decades—particularly following the industrial revolution and the New Deal—the ideologies of the two major parties underwent a major realignment. The Republican Party gradually transitioned into a center-right and conservative political organization, while the Democratic Party absorbed many progressive ideologies.
Look at you. Posting more wiki nonsense. Lmao. You should know better. There was nothing progressive regarding the Kansas Nebraska Act and fighting it. It was primarily based in religious beliefs against slavery. Morons like you and the fools above might want to study The 2nd Great Awakening. Y'all are clueless. I already knew y'all were clueless, I just found out how much. Progressive. Lmao. It's was as right leaning as one could get.

The Second Great Awakening was literally the 2nd biggest catalyst for the Civil War.

I'm the exact opposite. I literally stated, I don't care about feelings, especially yours.
This is literally the boomer generation to a T:

-rants emotionally and angrily constantly

- Because they're emotionally unstable and uneducated, think their veiwpoints and worldviews are "facts" and not emotions. They are unable to back up their facts

- Says they don't care about emotions, then states any viewpoints, factual or otherwise that differ from theirs, as "emotional."

- When presented PASSIONATELY with a different viewpoint, worldview, or literal proven fact that doesn't line up with their worldview or viewpoints, they claim OTHERS are "emotional." They hypocrisy is astounding

Gotta be the dumbest fuc king generation ever. Get fuc ked.

The entire basis of America is equality. It has never been about equity. You need a puppy or a participation trophy?

Bless your heart. Are you enjoying the wars and high prices?

America has never been about fairness or justice in the way people are treated? Freedom from disparities in the way people are treated based on race/gender. No? You are against that?

Equity
fairness or justice in the way people are treated
often, specifically : freedom from disparities in the way people of different races, genders, etc. are treated

Remember the original point was NOT whether or not republicans were anti slavery.

The original point was saying slave owners were progressive and the original republicans that fought to free the slaves were conservative.

You can't convince MAGAs with this narrative in their head that they are wrong. It's laughably and easily proven wrong but none of that matters when engaging somebody who uses alternate facts to back up their points.

I pick it apart on social media every time I see it. It's so easily defeated yet they keep regurgitating it.

Were you born this dumb or did you have to hone it over time?

Google dixiecrats. Can we have the republicans from the civil war era back? The democrats from that era were completely backwards with their beliefs compared to today.

The paradox of tolerance.

To have a tolerant society, a society cannot tolerate intolerance otherwise the intolerance will destroy the society.

They do not understand they are the intolerance that is not tolerated.

It's not a paradox at all, though. Being of the tolerant set doesn't require anyone to be tolerant of literally everything. That's legit silly.

The left will never tolerate fascism, no matter how much crybaby snowflakes like Maga whine about the unfairness of it all. Fukcin phussies 😅

Don't mistake the left for the Democrats, either. The democrats seem more than willing to tolerate fascism so long as that Israel money keeps flowing in.

Classis Captain Houseboat. Can't accept that he was called out and pwnd, so out comes the ranting and the insults. Captain, I find that almost as amusing as your claims to be a history scholar. Your educational pedigree is once again showing. You remind me of a neighbor who once bragged about her son being in the Honors College at ASU. I did not have the heart to tell her that her son's "achievement" was akin to being designated the Tallest Midget.

AI is programed to tell you what it thinks you want to hear. I debate AI all the time and have forced it to admit I was right and it was wrong many times after I show it proof. AI is far from perfect atm.....
