I give up.There are lots of things that are terrible for humans to consume that the government doesn’t involve themselves in.

The regulation is important because it involves milk consumption by infants and children. The most at risk to food borne illnesses.I already said I’m not drinking it. We seem to just disagree on how much regulation of others there needs to be. No big deal.
That would be for antibiotic contaminants. If you have a cow on antibiotics their milk has to be dumped and not included in your daily milking.I have worked claims on tainted milk and found that when the tank truck comes around to pick it up, a sample is taken from each farmer and emptied into the tank and if the tank checks as being tainted, then the entire tank is rejected. Then the individual samples are checked and the offending farmer who submitted the tainted milk is responsible for the entire load They have insurance to cover their losses.

Its still a question of where the line is. You like regulation it appears, I am fine with inform and allow the parents to decide. They make daily decisions that the government doesn’t need to regulate.
My half *** research says 3 people died of raw milk related illness in a 20 year period ended 2018. It’s not an issue.
But, pasteurization and germ theory changed the planet for the better over a century ago.
That’s like saying I don’t ever wear my seatbelt and I’m still alive so seatbelts don’t save lives. What if I told you raw milk tastes better? I bought some recently. Farmer fed it to his family, I was willing to roll the dice. Tons of fat in it. It was great. Could I pasteurize it myself? Sure. Maybe I’ll try that next time. Safer And not lose all the fat, but I don’t think it was that unsafe.
Why would anyone want milk with extra long shelf life?
I strongly disagree with that sentiment.
Less than 1% percent of milk consumed in the United States is raw yet it has more hospitalizations and illness than the other 99%. Most of those being children and infants.
Your opinion is based on bad assumptions.I already made it clear we disagree and that’s ok. I’m sorry you seem to think my opinion is not allowable.
Your opinion is based on bad assumptions.
Yes you said you don’t drink it but that people should have the right to choose. That’s not a good idea from a food safety standpoint. That’s all I’m saying. This isn’t the big bad government taking freedoms, it’s simply preventing illness and hospitalization.I think you’re not paying much attention to what my opinion actually is. You’re kinda on a soapbox.

Are you drunk? That’s not at all what I’m saying. That’s like saying I don’t ever wear my seatbelt and I’m still alive so seatbelts don’t save lives.
Yesis your position that it should be illegal everywhere to sell raw milk?
They absolutely do, and have to, regulate food safety. We proved a century ago that this is necessary. Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.There are lots of things that are terrible for humans to consume that the government doesn’t involve themselves in.
Inform of the risks, but be careful not to overreach if there’s not a clear danger to the population at large.
Covid hangover is real for me.

It's a thing because we are so far past Upton Sinclair and kids in iron lungs that wellness influencers and conspiracy theorists were able to jump in and fill that attention void. Pretending you are making some enlightened argument about personal freedoms when it comes to stuff like raw milk just means you are easily influenced by loud noises instead of actual data, science, and research.I just don’t understand why this is even a thing. It would be like me saying “undercooked chicken is better for you.” Everyone on here knows that A. Undercooked chicken isn’t going to contain any significant additional nutritional value and B. Food poisoning. It’s literally the same thing with raw milk.
There was this weed that would just appear in the pasture overnight in the spring/ early summer. We called it bitter weed, the cows loved it , but it would taint the taste of the milk. We would milk the herd and then pour every gallon down the drain and thoroughly clean the lines and tanks to remove the taste. We would move the herd to another pasture and spray the weeds. As a kid with a dirt bike it was my job to ride every inch of the farm looking for that weed before it tainted the milk.I have worked claims on tainted milk and found that when the tank truck comes around to pick it up, a sample is taken from each farmer and emptied into the tank and if the tank checks as being tainted, then the entire tank is rejected. Then the individual samples are checked and the offending farmer who submitted the tainted milk is responsible for the entire load They have insurance to cover their losses.

Oh and also... Parents don't know what's best for their kids. Especially when it comes to health and safety. It's why we have things like car seat laws and vaccine schedules.

Yeah and 99.9 percent of chicken is not going to be butchered like those chickens are so you would need to assume that there’s a chance of salmonella. If the chicken doesnt have salmonella it’s totally fine.![]()

I totally agree with you here. Its all about how its handled.Yeah and 99.9 percent of chicken is not going to be butchered like those chickens are so you would need to assume that there’s a chance of salmonella.
MAHA + FAFO = FMLAA guy I work with is obsessed with eating unprocessed food. He’s actually horrified of eating anything processed. He’s a raw milk guy. Last year for 3 months he was sick. Pale, gaunt and weak. Took FMLA for a while. Thank goodness he’s fine now. No clue if it’s true but the rumor around the office was the raw milk got him. It’s very possible, but it could have been something else.
Unprocessed food is a good thing. Unsanitary food is completely different.A guy I work with is obsessed with eating unprocessed food. He’s actually horrified of eating anything processed. Absolutely. We make an effort to eat more unprocessed food. I get a few deer in the freezer every year and have started gardening for our own vegetables. All that stuff is safe if processed and stored correctly.Unprocessed food is a good thing. Unsanitary food is completely different.
