John Calipari would be a great hire for them
My guess is this was intended as a joke, but Cal would win big at Michigan.
Someone is going to hire Josh Schertz and he will be the next successful newcomer.
Kentucky was a year late in securing Jon Sumrall and we’re going to regret it. The same thing will happen with Schertz.

This smells like one of those bullshirt twitter rumors that always follow one of these announcements which are usually made up BS.

Dude doesn’t even claim to have a source, he just says “rumored” …so does that mean drunken speculation by you and a buddy?

Good Lord! How many PFs do you want?! We have a handful already! Lmao
Honestly, I had the opposite impression. Our backcourt seems well defined with creators, and we have a million wings, but our frontcourt feels uncertain, at least to me, anyway. Maybe I'm wrong.

To be fair, we have a ton of what I would call “hybrid” forwards. So, I see what you mean. However, seems like we have a boat load of forwards.

I just don't see the Mavs being a better job than Michigan right now. You just won a title, you can outspend almost any other program (Mavs you get to spend the same as all 30 other teams), you probably have close to a lifetime-type of contract at Michigan.

But maybe the NIL era is just too insane to deal with year in and year out. And he does get Cooper Flagg who might be a top10 current NBA player already.

But still, Mavs could fire him in 2 years like it's nothing.
It‘a no lose for him. He can always return to college coaching if the Mav’s job doesn’t pan out.

If Hawthorne is playing significant minutes next season, things are not going well for Kentucky. He’s everyone’s favorite player because he’s never left the bench. No way is Hawthorne ready to compete against SEC forwards.
Fact: you do not know if your comment above has an ounce of merit. You don’t know. We shall find out together

Hey, sorry everyone .... I've been awol since getting sick a week ago. HOspital got me stabilized though. It's all ok, now. At least I have the good sense to call 911 when I need to. So, apologies in not being able to chime in and see everyone's comments.

... And I get sick, been gone a week ... in the SLOWEST time of year for news, and what do I come back to today ?

Dusty May splitsville from AnnArbor ?
Sorry Wolverines, but it's GREAT news for everybody else.

So on the immediate moment's thoughts ?

Uhhh ... ok, good for the Mavs..... He's a good coach, strike while the iron is hot. Good for Dusty. Bad, tragic, for Michigan. They are cursed.

Michigan hires Boynton as the interim ? WHEW. Not meaning like, dodging a bullet or anything, but it's safe for them ... and pretty much everyone else. It puts a HUGE dampener on next season. obviously. It's also maybe good enough to keep the players they already have from leaving. I won't be surprised to see them lose a few, but I don't expect a mass exodus.

As for us, I truly think Kusturica has a CLEAR choice now. And it isn't this Jedi :

Go Dark Pope FTW !

Getting Kusturica would be getting me much more back to feeling stoked for the programs future, again, as a whole.

C'mon Coach Pope, now is your time, it has got to be now !

That’s the same thing Pitino thought when he left UK. But I bet he still regrets that decision.

May had incredible CBB momentum as the defending champ and hottest coach in the sport. The chance to build something huge at Michigan. That momentum will be broken and he won’t be viewed quite the same way if he’s returning after failing in the NBA.

I doubt he did. He never would have known if he could hack it otherwise and it still considered one of the greats as he's brought 3 programs to the F4.

Dusty has NBA bedside manner. I actually think he may do ok. And if he washes out, he can finish his career back home in Indiana.

Countless college programs will still crawl to him if he fails in the NBA. I don't know why we need to pretend otherwise.
