I will agree with one thing Matt Jones said this morning, these crystal ball picks by the 'experts' and 'insiders' is the biggest racket going

I mean, I'll be the first to admit I was green to it at first, but after the 50th time....

100%. Said it in a different thread yesterday. Paying for “insider info” is stupid. Did he include KSR/ON3’s own “insiders?”
Absolutely this! I’m done with HOB! Ended today! I do, however, miss TMB. The national board is badass. Lol

EDIT: Btw, the HOB insiders don’t know jack regarding basketball! Nothing!

We all want info, but sometimes I don't think they no anymore than I do which is nothing.
I can see how in a particular situation someone has inside information about a particular recruit. And I can also see how someone with access to the staff might have access to otherwise confidential information that most people aren't privy to.

But I never bought the idea that a 'recruiting guru' knows enough about every single recruit every single year to give insightful & accurate information about where each recruit is leaning. In a lot of cases it's just a guess, or repeating whatever the consensus is saying at the time.

Thank you for saving me money when I was getting close to doing it for portal season.

i think a lot of you are totally misunderstanding how this stuff works. and if you dont like it or dont believe it, quit engaging with it or paying for it.

but if one of the writers here talks to X players agent and that agent says "kentucky is our favorite." said writer comes and writes it here and along with it says, well it seems like kentucky may end up being the choice. then X player and agent decides to go somewhere else... thats just life. Writer wasnt necessarily wrong, all they are doing is telling us what they are told from people close to recruitments. they are a middle man... not Jesus Christ in the flesh.

again, if thats not for you... you dont have to engage or pay

Do KSR’s insiders actually make predictions or simply report other’s predictions? I ask this as a serious question as I rarely read recruiting articles in this give me the money era. Also do these other parties actually make predictions or simply give you a percentage guess which would always provide them an out.

My feeling is that these guys are given info by agents (often purposefully false), "friends", etc...They are. not getting it straight from the recruit. So, sometimes they are going to be right, and sometimes they are going to be wrong. Not worth paying for it, IMO.

Agents are an obstacle. But if you are good at what you are doing you can get solid info.
Even if true …so what? Any scoop that turns out to be true quickly becomes public knowledge anyways.

I see those who pay for “insider” recruiting info as just suckers being scammed. All they’re getting for their money is the chance to possibly see recruiting news just slightly before everyone else gets it anyways …which is darn near nothing at all.

So when Jacob Polacheck quoted anonymous sources and claimed UK and JMI were requiring athletes to sign away their NIL rights, which would violate the state’s NIL law, he was talking to someone lose to the recruitment who made up the lie?

2. no, jacob lied. in which case why are you still paying money and time to him?

You’re welcome, brother! Used to really like HOB. It’s just went downhill fast, since On3 took over. Those guys have been wrong about virtually everything. Lmao

This is absolutely true. Agents put out inaccurate info to enhance the player's options. It happens a lot with the higher rated players.

I mean, this is just common sense. Clicks generate as revenue. That’s the only reason why things like “field of 68” and whatever this on3 crap is exists.

The real head scratchers are the non monetized Twitter accounts and things like that where people follow anon people that don’t know anymore than the next bum. Why do they do it? Are they in that much need of validation? They’re simply attention whorez.

Lmao just like the KSR crew KNEW well ahead of the Stokes commitment to KU that he had filled out NIL paperwork to KU. They conveniently held on to that information. They didn’t disclose it so they could continue to generate clicks. Absolute BS!

If you think back to the mid 2000s, Tubby-era, the insiders were the only real way of knowing if UK was even interested in a recruit or was going on a visit. Now, we all know as we can follow the players themselves on Twitter, plus the coaches, and reps, and agents.

So the insiders have less and less actual information to share, leading to what we get today.

Also, when Louisville beat out hometown team Michigan St for Brian Bowen, everyone was shocked. Now those under-the-table payments are all out in the open for the most part.
