Me too! Will be 85 in August and have been fan since 1957.
Did you or @Freddie.B.Cocky ever make it to a Big Thursday game?

As I posted several years ago, the first USC football game I ever attended was the 1968 opener vs Dook, I was 8. Last game I went to was vs F$U in 1984.

These days, the only USC teams whose games I'm inclined to see in person are Baseball and Women's basketball.

I’m not quite as old as some of you fellows. But my dad took me to my first game back in the George Rogers era. Started going to all the games in 1982 (the late Coach Richard Bell era). Feel in love with the Gamecocks during Black Magic and the Fire Ants! My father and brother are gone now. So are the older Gamecock fans my dad was friends with over the years. My family pretends to like the Gamecock, because they know how much it means to me. But it’s not as much fun with all my Gamecock buddies gone. At least they missed all the NIL and transfer portal crap. I wish I could go back to the beginning of the 1984 season. That was my favorite year for sure. Navy sucks!

1982 was the first season they played with the east upper deck that was completed that summer. I think they opened with Pacific or Richmond. I remember that year they had a hard time filling that stadium to capacity. Maybe it was South Carolina was still an Independent and the teams that was on South Carolina's schedule that year. I do think the Georgia game was packed. I guess what stands out the most of the 1982 season is losing to Furman.

Like a lot of USC fans. I have been a Gamecock fan since 1971. Like most of you I will always be a Gamecock fan forever. Yes, like marriage USC has been through a lot of ups and downs. Like they say that is part of life. What school has not been through a lot of ups and downs. I cherish the memories, made a lot of friends, shared a lot of tailgating with people I don't know. That is what it special. Friendships and special memories. I still am a member of the Gamecock Club for over 45 years but yet I still support the Gamecocks. I guess one special game I remember is right after we had played Southern California, we went to Michigan the next week and beat Michigan in the big house. We held on with Michigan at our 5 yd line and Michigan tried a pass to Anthony Carter and we held on and knocked the pass down and won that game. Wow what a game. I think between the Southern California game and the Michigan game that is what won the Heisman trophy for George Rogers.

Sadly, I never made that game.
