Well, I did just take an Aqua-dump so it may have travelled up from Florida.

Don't judge me.

Is there no limit to the disparity given our yankee friends in New Jersey by this board?? The efficiency of a good Mississippi septic system is far superior to those aging ***** pipes that the Jersey boys use to empty into the Atlantic ocean. Who knew that the Atlantic's capacity to handle the Jersey shat was so limited.

elaborate, there is a lot of talk about the benefits of raw milk and the over zealousness of banning it. I would be interested in someone's opinion that has a background and is unbiased. Is there a safe way to consume raw milk?
I’m far from an expert but unless you’re milking it directly into you glass , you’re not getting raw milk. I grew up next door to a family dairy farm and I’ve worked many an hour in a dairy barn. The milk was immediately heated to a temp, can’t remember what but it wasn’t very high before it ever reached the storage tank. It was then cooled in the storage tank awaiting daily transport to a processing facility. The quick heating process was to remove bacteria so I was told. I hated the taste of non processed milk personally for cereal and drinking but my mom used it often for cooking.

The risks of illness from raw milk far outweigh any sort of benefit of keeping it that way namely listeria and salmonella. Other viruses like TB and even Covid can be passed through the raw milk if it isn’t pasteurized. Nutritionally it’s virtually the same and pasteurization allows milk to last longer before spoiling. I actually buy the ultra pasteurized milk that prairie farms sells. It lasts for months in the fridge.

Ultra processed like Fair Life or any other brand that has something similar is where it’s at.

Im not an advocate but im not anti. The promised land was described as a land of milk and honey. Do we think it was pasteurized?

Funny when you think about this - Raw milk has become a political topic as of late, partly because its been advocated by a guy who admitted to snorting cocaine off a toilet seat. What a time to be alive.

No, but it was probably part of the reason why people died young.

In the 1800s nearly a quarter of all foodborne illnesses were a result of drinking unpasteurized milk
Going to a cemetery and seeing the sheer number of kids died who died before about the 1950s is so damn sad. It's astounding that some want to return to those days.

Would we still use the same processes today that they did then? Nothing has advanced?

There was a lot going on with milk other than it just bring unpasteurized back in the day. It’s a sordid rabbit hole.

And no, I’m not arguing for more raw milk, but I suspect most of the raw milk sold legally today is safer than it was in olden times.
There’s no point in raw milk when there’s no advantage to drinking it over pasteurized milk. If you look at the last 5 years of recalled milk nearly all of it is raw milk.

I don’t want to drink it, but at first glance I also don’t want the government heavily involved in telling others they can’t if it’s what they want to do.

I’m open to being persuaded otherwise because my knowledge is limited beyond understanding heat and time kill baddies in milk.

They try to stop raw milk sales because of safety. This is food science 101.

Drink raw milk and get all the nutrients of milk plus risk ingesting pathogens and viruses or drink pasteurized milk with the same nutrients and vitamins with virtually no risk of pathogens and viruses.

There are lots of things that are terrible for humans to consume that the government doesn’t involve themselves in.

Inform of the risks, but be careful not to overreach if there’s not a clear danger to the population at large.

Covid hangover is real for me.
