Another Jay Wright player finding his way in the NBA with a 4 year $48 Million deal with the Suns.

Undrafted, he spent 2 years in the G-league with some callups to Phoenix as 2-Way player. This year he was again on a 2-way but broke through and became a starter for the Suns averaging 12.7 points - 4.6 assists - 4.1 rebounds shooting 40% from 3.

I'm hoping this is the year Sandro gets a nice longterm deal. He had a good season in Toronto averaging 11.2 points - 4.9 rebounds in 21 minutes per game and shot 52.3% FG and 38.9% 3FG.

He has a $2.8 Million Player Option for 26-27 which is a joke considering Najai Hines will make more as a Sophomore in college. He outplayed his salary and has until 6/29 to accept or become FA. Toronto wants to keep him but are up against the luxury tax. Sandro has stated he wants to stay with Toronto and maybe they make him a longer and more lucrative offer otherwise Sandro has a decision to make.

In my opinion he'll get more than Gillespie on the open market so Toronto would need to make a major offer. Here's hoping....

Sandro averaged 11.2 pts, 4.9 rebs on 52.3 % on 2‘s and 38.9 % on 3’s in the NBA for
the Toronto Raptor’s. C. Gillespie averaged 12.7 pts, 4.6 assists and 4.1 rebs on 40 %
on 3’s in the G League for the Phoenix Suns.

Gillespie signed a 4 yr deal for 48 million with the Suns. The NBA is much better then the
G League (comparing the NBA vs the G League is a joke)comparing the stats were very similar, Sandro deserves more money than 12 million per year.

Because the Suns held Gillespie’s early Bird rights, he was eligible to earn as much as $66.6 million over four years and was the Suns’ most high-profile free agent.

Under Early Bird rights, the maximum the Suns can offer without cap space is 105% of the league-average salary or 175% of his previous salary, whichever is greater.

If the financing could work sandro would actually be good for the knicks...he also has to determine at this stage does he want to be paid and taken care of or be part of a competitive program that can make deep playoff runs. That may not align.

The Raptors can’t pay him what he’s worth. They would like to keep him but they’re constrained salary wise.

He's quoted as saying he took less money last year to sign with Toronto because opportunity to play and playing for a good coach and organization is important to him. He said that will be part of his decision this year also. But he's 27 years old and this is an opportunity to set him up for life. The good thing is he has set himself up to have serious options this year.

Knicks are waaaaay over the cap, believe they are not allowed to use the Mid-level exemption, even the lowest level MLE.

Gillespie was not in the G League last season, those stats are all from the NBA.

Would appear that Mamu should be in line for a serious contract though too.

We will know the answer on how Mamu is valued.

Raptors just drafted their sandro replacement
Yeah they can't afford him. Spurs & Timberwolves are some potential matches as playoff teams with cap space and the MLE.

Sandro obviously knows the Spurs franchise and they need a player with some size. They have so many guys in the 6'3 - 6'7" range but need a bigger forward who can play quality minutes next to Wemby. They play great defense so they could carry Sandro's subpar D for what he brings offensively and rebounding.

Just as I typed this, the Spurs take a 6'9" 260 pound shot-blocking in the Draft.

The Wolves just traded Julius Randle to the Nets for nothing. That gives them cap space and they'll need a frontcourt scorer off the bench. They have Naz Reid in that role but he will move into the starting spot vacated by Randle. Sandro could be that bench big man to backup the defensive ace Rudy Goebert and Naz.

Bulls, Lakers and Heat have been mentioned as interested teams.

Quintanance. Totally different profile than Mamu though. Defensive freak with insane measurable and athleticism, but also a huge injury risk. Was projected in the lottery preseason. Only played 4 games for KY. Saw him once in the national TV game against SJU where he caused more problems for their front line and Zuby than anyone else I saw during the season. Interesting roll of the dice by the Spurs.

I wonder if Johnson is essentially Mamu’s comp for a role with the Spurs.

Internally, the Raptors have budgeted a deal in the $10-million-per-year range, a number that they can get to if they find a taker for the last year of Dick’s contract. That would be a considerable raise for Mamukelashvili, who is expected to decline the $2.8-million player option on his contract by Monday’s deadline. The problem is that bigs with his profile are highly valued, with multiple league sources expecting Mamukelashvili to have a robust market in free agency. “I think he's getting multiple years guaranteed at more than $10 million a year,” said one league source.

He should. His skill set and size is what the NBA is now. He’s proven he can do it.

In addition to trading away Randle, the Wolves also traded Naz Reid for LaMelo Ball. They definitely need a big man who can score and spread the floor.

Playoff-level teams with good defensive bigs have a lot of interest in Sandro. He's going to get P-A-I-D.

As expected, Sandro declined his $2.8M option with Toronto to become Free Agent. Expect news of him signing a nice deal in next day or 2.
