What is a little ole 6 stoke lead?

All of the damage was done on Thursday.

Things might change.
Maybe 5 stoke.

I stick with it because a disaster is awaiting on every hole. So you never know how it will turnout. But it has been a little on the boring side.

I put it on in the background yesterday while my attention was elsewhere, and I swear every few minutes you'd hear an announcer say, "Uh oh."
I'm guessing the wind settled down?

Scores were actually worse today. Most of the leaderboard went backwards.

Where are they playing? I haven’t watched golf in a decade or so. Golf without Tiger seemed too much like the NBA without Jordan.
I know it’s old man stuff but it was just better then.

Shinnecock Hills and I hated golf when Tiger was in his hey day, didn't hate Tiger but if he had a lead going into Sunday, it was over. He was too dominate and took away Sunday finishes.

It’s at Shinnecock Hills in the Hamptons. One of the oldest, most renowned clubs in the country. Worth a look tomorrow.

That’s funny. It’s amazing how people see things so differently. I felt like I was watching a level of play that had rarely ever been reached before so I watched for the spectacle of it. Same with Jordan, same with Tyson.

There is so much sameness in golf now that I just don’t have anyone to pull for or pull against.

I love that the crowd has turned on Clark. Make comments like that in the media and they’ll turn on you real quick.

I’m paraphrasing a bit but basically he said he wasn’t feeling any support from the crowd yesterday and was disappointed. So the Long Islanders are saying 17 you today.

I don’t really blame him. But if you’re gonna say it you really better not come out of the gates 3 over through 7.

At least we got a competitive Sunday.

That crowd is not giving him anything. They said a few folks got thrown out.

He barely got a smattering of golf claps for that birdie. Can’t say I remember seeing that for an American leading a US Open.

My dad used to tell me that crowds were rough on Jack in his early years on tour because he was beating their hero Arnie.

Yeah but Clark has the gruff past with the on course tantrums and messing up the lockeroom at Oakmont and you throw in his comments yesterday it’s really easy to get the crowd going against you.

Burns just put a fire under his azz. Down to a 1 shot lead.

I’d like to see Burns win it I think.

and he just hit one close at 17.

Clark birdies after a terrible drive, great second, marginal third. Up two with two to go. Burns probably just left the practice area.

73 was the worst round of the guys in the Top 10. He got it done, but he needed every bit of that overnight 6 shot lead to hold on.

Lot of friends hugging on him after it was over. He’s probably a good dude with a bit of a temper.

Keith Mitchell became the first player in US Open history to shoot even par in all four rounds.

Of course, they couldn't stop talking about his first round of 41/29. If he had shot even par for his first 9 holes (and everything else stayed the same) he would have won by 2 strokes

- Clark can be an asshole.
- A lot of those fans can be assholes.

Combined, you get a group of potential dbags cheering against someone who can be a dbag.
Mob mentality- its easy to be an asshole when you are in a crowd.

Clark didnt say anything inappropriate(that I have read) in the media. Acknowledging that the crowd wasnt with him and saying he was bummed the crowd was actually kind of against him isnt inappropriate.

- The bro-culture which pervades professional golf now is obnoxious.
Yelling 'MASHED POTATOES!' after a drive is 17ing awful. Straight to jail.
Heckling players is 17ing pathetic. Straight to jail.
Screaming 'GET IN THE HOLE' after a drive on a 485yd hole is 17ing dumb as balls. Straight to jail.

Let the WM Phoenix Open be the party tournament. Everywhere else- fans should be respectful. If you dont like someone you dont even know, just follow a different player on the course or just stay quiet for 3 minutes if they pass by you while playing.

They were playing on Long Island so I think some of it comes with the territory. If it were somewhere else it probably wouldn’t be that way or at least not as bad.
