Branham’s source is probably Pilgrim whose source is MeManBoy who was adamant this was a done deal. Just a huge insider circle jerk, I don’t believe **** anymore until the ink hits the paper.
Pilgrim and Branham were confirmed to have different sources. That’s actually part of what is puzzling about this. Branham made an error self-admittedly, but Pilgrim, using separate sources, was under the impression the final touches were being made.

Anyone else find it humerous that 99% of the posters panicking because we “may” not get Nikola didn’t even know who he was a week ago? Now suddenly if we miss on him the sky is falling again? Are we really that fragile that our emotions are that easily swayed from reality?
That being said the recruitment is far from over and we are very much a major player. We should have a clear picture on where he is going by months end and it very well could still be here. It’s crazy to me how so many posters swing so harshly with every news that’s reported. Personally for me whether we land him or not this off season went about as well as it possibly could have. UK hasn't been to an Elite Eight since 2019 and hasn't won SEC Tourney since 2018.
This isn't about fragility. It's about knowing that you need as much talent to win big as possible. Our fans have a greater appreciation of that after Cal than any other fan base out there. We saw how hard it was to win even with dozens of lottery picks.
It's damn hard to win it all. Pope needs all the help he can get, and the sudden burst of confidence after the Milan signing that some of our fans are displaying just shows me that have very selective memories.
We need more talent. It's as simple as that.
I agree. We need as much talent as we can get. Everyone is putting together a new team every year. There's a good chance one or two players won't be as good as we hope, so having other guys who can step up is huge.
And, I don't want to hear about how our season was destroyed because someone missed 3 games with a hangnail.

Dude, he signed a top 10 player and the #2 portal player, on the heels of adding the rest of a roster that ended up the second ranked portal class. I want Nikola. You want Nikola. We all want Nikola, but this isn’t a kid coming in to start year one either way. This is an extremely high-ceiling project of a player that you’d count on to be a monster in year two. Some of y’all are talking about this kid like he’s the difference between being a national champion and a fringe top 25 team. Right now, I think we have as good a shot as anyone to get the kid. Even if we get him, we may not be a preseason top 5 team (probably won’t be.) I’m just being honest. Y’all heard top two projected draft pick in the class of 2028 and think that means he hits the court as a stud. It’s a little more complicated than that. He’s a Ferrari but he has handling issues, it will take a while. I wouldn’t be freaking out either way on this for the 2027 season. Let it play out.
The whole point guard issue sucked last year, he had Lowe (projected starter), Acaden(first backup), DA(insurance) then Perry. I think everyone felt pretty good at that point, then Perry looked at the depth and transferred. Ok we were still looking ok then Acaden decommitted. Perry I understood but Acaden screwed us big time, by that time it was too late to get another point guard, then Lowe got hurt. DA was never intended to be the starting point guard. I can’t see how any of that was Popes fault.
Who is freaking out? I'm simply commenting on how Pope is still the same poor recruiter he was the other 20 years of his coaching career. He did a good job this offseason, I like the team. I also thought last year would be much better than it turned out to be, so I'll wait and hold off on my judgment. Hampton is still a year away, and I'm not going to convince myself he can recruit and keep him at UK when I watched the opposite happen with Acaden, the only other top recruit outside of Ky that he's had commit.

Also a week ago BBN didn’t know Nikola was projected to be a top 5 NBA draft pick in ‘28, and he’d be in college for two years. That’s not your normal “new name” potential prospect.
The roster is very flawed. Defense and rebounding were not addressed. Those two things are pretty important. Adding Kusturicha isn’t going to fix it either.
Moreno will have to play around 30 minutes/game to make it work. Rebounding will be an issue at the 4, but I like what UK has at the guard spots as far as rebounding. It can happen by committee, but I fear you're right. UK will have to outscore a lot of opponents, and that's why landing Kusturica is so huge. Do what you do well (scoring) better than anyone else. For example, a small ball lineup of Diallo, Wilkins, Kusturica, Williams, and Moreno would be pretty difficult to defend.
I still wish we'd landed Caleb Holt. He would have been a perfect third guard for what Pope is trying to do.
Don't count out the Washington center if he stays healthy. Good college player imo. Grown man
It's also interesting that we never heard of N'diye either who is a lesser prospect but we are supposed to be thrilled about him. Can't have it both ways saying it's not a big miss because we never heard of a guy but acting like a guy we signed who we never heard of is amazing news.
