Players didn't want to do the trip, apparently
Inmates running the asylum rarely results in high levels of success.
Players didn't want to do the trip, apparently
Some of these players are only going to be playing for Kentucky for 6 months. I have been a wildcat fan for 70 years....and there are probably a million others that have been fans for many years, many of them as long as I have. Not a big deal. Stay in Lex and improve individually and as a team.
Fans just upset that THEY don’t get what they want.
I’m sorry but an elite 8 does nothing for me. Even if he makes a final four, im still done with him. I’ve seen all I need to see. Like I said earlier, I’m trying to change and be a better person so I will try not to hate and obviously root for my cats every game but this situation we find ourselves in absolutely blows.
IF this is factual, it sure doesn't bode well for Pope demanding anymore from his players this year. I mean how many games did we watch last year where the players seemed to think defense was only an option? He absolutely has to grow a backbone and be demanding if he wants to have success here.Yeah I heard that. Bunch of BS that is. And tough luck for them. Sorry you have to go on vacation, oh the horror.
A free one at that. Who is running the team? Apparently not Pope.
Rubbish. Don't particularly care for that dude, but I see no reason for him making this up. It's hardly sensational.Matt could convince them that the Earth was flat just by saying it.
This. If they don't want to go or play...fine. But it sounds like they decided for the whole team. IF this is in fact what happened, that's effed up!If a couple players didn't want to play, that's fine. Don't hold it against them. They could sit out and let other guys get more playing time. It's a new roster, so I can't imagine why you wouldn't take the opportunity to get some experience playing together.
I hate freaking saying it man. I really do.I don’t disagree
Ummmm, where would the program be without the fans? Not a big deal. Stay in Lex and improve individually and as a team.

I get it. I can agree somewhat but we still got beat like a drum in his first year didn’t we? Kentucky should absolutely never and I mean never get blown out of a game. Dude is barely over 500 in the freaking SEC. That Duke game was fools gold.I dont know. I prefer not to live in absolutes. Am i out on Pope as of now? Yes. But, it is possible that last year was just a real bad disaster, where some of the blame was simply on our awful injuries and the players just not being Kentucky-material.
I think Pope has a lot of work to do and still a whole lot to prove, but im willing to see how this year goes.
I also agree and E8 might not do it for me either. An E8 really needs to come with big wins where we are a 2 or 3 seed and we just happen to have a bad off night in that E8 game. As opposed to stinking most of the year and backdooring our way to an E8 as a 7-seed.
BINGO. How do you and I know this but the dude getting paid millions doesn’t?If a couple players didn't want to play, that's fine. Don't hold it against them. I mean, that’s the word I guess. I have zero faith in Pope. He’s literally acting like a first year head coach. Who lets an assistant position open during the most important off season of your career? Pope is an idiot. Thank God he isn’t a doctor. I can’t imagine how many people would die under his watch.IF this is factual, it sure doesn't bode well for Pope demanding anymore from his players this year. Umm. No. UK hasn’t been blown out a lot over the decades. That’s called a rarity. Come on dude. You are smarter than this. I bet Pope has more 10 plus loss games in his 2 years than we had a decade before him, combinedUk has been blown out a lot over the decades. Now losing 8 games by double digits n a season and 14 timed n 2 seasons is pretty awful.
I’d accept an elite 8 but not at the expense of having a bad regular season and down 15 points multiple games. He needs to have a top 15 team all year and make an elite 8 or it’s over.I dont know. I prefer not to live in absolutes. Am i out on Pope as of now? Yes. UK fans will be there when the real season starts.Ummmm, where would the program be without the fans?
Some of those Bahamas tourneys play in little arenas inside ballrooms. The floor gets really wet from the sweat and players are always falling awkwardly. I'm always expecting players to get hurt.Arkansas joins summer Bahamas tour while Kentucky elects to stay home. UK could have played four exhibition games against international competition as part of the 2026 Baha Mar Hoops Summer League. The fifth-annual event is managed by bdG Sports, a Kentucky-based sports and entertainment management firm which annually operates two dozen collegiate men’s and women’s basketball games at Baha Mar each November. South Carolina and Valparaiso were announced as other participants in the 2026 Baha Mar Hoops Summer League on Wednesday. The fifth-annual event is managed by bdG Sports, a Kentucky-based sports and entertainment management firm which annually operates two dozen collegiate men’s and women’s basketball games at Baha Mar each November. Not going on this trip is a mistake imo...UK needs the competition and experience of playing together against other teams.
Let the coaches coach. Do it their way this season. Some of these players are only going to be playing for Kentucky for 6 months. I have been a wildcat fan for 70 years....and there are probably a million others that have been fans for many years, many of them as long as I have.
Which of those SHOULD be the ones to get what they want?
Seems like smart players.Rumor from someone behind the paywall is that a few of the players didn't want to take a trip. TIFWIW
If Pope makes Sweet 16 this year he will get a 4th year, no matter what some of you jack wagons think. I'm not saying what should happen , I'm saying what WILL happen if he gets that far.
Umm. No. UK hasn’t been blown out a lot over the decades. That’s called a rarity. Come on dude. You are smarter than this. I bet Pope has more 10 plus loss games in his 2 years than we had a decade before him, combined
Damn. Really? I guess I was wrong lol. Not the first time. Point remain though I think.I checked Cals last 4 seasons and he had 15 double digit losses.
Not pope level crappy but still not good.
GOOD!!New AD is trying to make a name. I wouldnt count on it. We see this in sports, anytime a new GM comes in, the days of the returning head coach are numbered.
Pope will have a short leash, especially with this AD who has fired coaches pretty quick.
Cal had plenty of those horrible coaching games lol. We had beaten Auburn 3 times already if I'm not mistaken? At least twice. PJ Washington played his *** off in that game, however, he missed several critical FT's late in that game that really could've changed the outcome.Yes, that elite eight coaching from cal was horrible. We jumped out on Auburn and then the second half was absolutely terrible. It didn’t help that Auburn wasn’t called for a foul the last 10 min of game clock, but still a horrible coaching job by cal.
An elite 8 would work but man, that would be so close to a final 4 it would sting losing lol. This year's team is the best team Pope has ever had, he's never had 2 guards like this before that can get to the rim, I think this team is going to be pretty good, can't wait to play Kansas in the champions classic. But hey, first things first, as a season ticket holder in football, the Will Stein era is right around the corner, really excited for that.I’d accept an elite 8 but not at the expense of having a bad regular season and down 15 points multiple games. He needs to have a top 15 team all year and make an elite 8 or it’s over.
Don't comprehend what you read, huh? To repeat what I said - Thousands of dedicated, long time UK fans should have more influence than a player that will be on the team for 6 months and then will be gone. I agree no coach should be influenced by either, but it sure sounds like Pope was.Let the coaches coach. Do it their way this season.
Roster looks good. Don’t need to listen to fans trying to bully the program.
Don’t like it find another team.
Nah. Shouldn’t let fans run the program. It’s his job period.Don't comprehend what you read, huh?
