So you played at Southwestern (Warriors?); I remember you guys killed a bunch of teams like 70-0, 76-0, etc. I think in 99, you all only lost to Boyle and Bullitt East in the playoffs. I take it that you blew out your knee in the 2001 playoff game vs Lexington Dunbar (we called them PLD)? In 4A, Nelson County won it in 1997; Lafayette played them close in 97, but got worked in 98 (just before I started at Lafayette). In the only year I played, we beat the two Laurel County schools and got worked over in every other game (Eric Shelton ran all over us - we lost 59-0). My brother played in 03', and Lafayette made the playoffs (played Boyle in Louisville at PJCS - got shutout) but Dunbar was too much (beat us twice). Like I said, my brother and I played a little bit, but neither one of us started (mostly on Special Teams and a package or two). My brother played because he had friends that played, and I played to get away from home (family issues at the time). I made the JV squad in basketball, but same thing, played only one year, and did ok (I'm even shorter than you!). What do you think about Kentucky going to six divisions? I thought it was ridiculous to have Johnson Central, Perry Central, Boyd County being in our Class/Region.
We were mostly a baseball school (made it to state before Harrison County annihilated them) until our unlikely run in 2001 in the Sweet 16. We lost to Catholic in 2000 (close game at half, then they pulled away), and we were downright NASTY towards Matt Heisenbuttel and the rest of the Catholic team/fans; the principal called us out on the intercom the following Monday for being "inappropriate". In 2001, we beat Catholic, and beat Carlisle County, Fairdale (Coric Riggs), North Hardin, and Male (Michael Bush) for the Championship. Kentucky beat Iowa in the NCAA's and Tayshaun went off that night. Male was up 33-18, and we came back and won 54-49. Bobby Madison was on a heater that night. In basketball, I think you all were Region 12, District 48? Didn't you guys play All Saints and annihilate them (like 115-35)? I know Regions have changed a lot since we were in HS (Scott County was in the 8th; Lafayette was in the 11th - now they're both in the 11th, and the Jessamine schools moved to the 12th).
Yes, birthday is September 16th (hence the "916" in my username - I used to be "Lakercat" - I grew up out West before moving to KY in middle school).
