Let's revisit this when he crushes it in the NBA. You wait right here...If this guy crushes it, is BBN going to claim him as one of their own? Add him to the list of NBA alum? Would be hysterical.

The only league he'll be in is the G league. Then overseas for a few years. He’ll be out of the league in 3-4 years , and injuries will be blamed, not lack of talent, just so all parties involved can save face.
Doubt it - kid is unbelievably gifted physically. Robert Williams is probably the perfect comp for him.The only league he'll be in is the G league. Then overseas for a few years.
I could see that but he is going to clog the floor up. Unless he develops a shot quickly he won’t play imho. Not many Mitchell Robinson’s find time in this league. Even someone as good as Sengun is getting called out for non shooting now.Spurs media seems to think JQ is their target at number 20
Steinbech is the best overall option imho. Many comp him to Robert Williams from Portland. It'll be all about who falls to the Spurs, but their target will be a strong 4. That could be anyone from Johnson, Graves, Quaintnance, Steinbech - best of who falls.
I'm going to find watching them and OKC during the draft very interesting, as both will be looking to find ways to stay ahead in that matchup.
Yet he will still get to retire at 30 as long as his family/handlers don’t rob him before he figured it out. Even crazy busts have it made these days. The only league he'll be in is the G league. Then overseas for a few years.
Imagine if he practiced or had the ability to dribble or have high level skills with his gifts. He would be the number one overall pick or like 3rd at worst. He would be a slightly more athletic Boozer.Doubt it - kid is unbelievably gifted physically. Robert Williams is probably the perfect comp for him.
I kinda follow this (a little) I may be wrong but I don’t know of anything that could be construed as NIL with JQ … not that it’s illegal, just that there are no rules as of now …It’s framed as NIL, but everyone knows it’s pay for play. Show me all the ads and things he did for that money. I bet they were few and far between and way above market value.
You’d think the NBA teams backing off due to poor physicals/testing would allow some of you to relax the hatred, but nope…still gonna compare someone who came back TOO EARLY from an injury to someone who was a healthy scratch for the year. I really don’t think that’s fair.Who is worse for you guys; Sharpe or JQ? At least with Sharpe we pretty much knew he was never going to play. JQ gave us blue balls the entire season always hoping he’d be back.
I was just curious on opinions. I don’t think either should be considered UK players. I think JQs knee was doing better than what was being told. (He was completely fine for draft workouts as soon as the season was over.)You’d think the NBA teams backing off due to poor physicals/testing would allow some of you to relax the hatred, but nope…still gonna compare someone who came back TOO EARLY from an injury to someone who was a healthy scratch for the year. Yes. Unless some embezzling or outrageous spending happens. But that's beside the point. I think his dad ruins his career, unless he's lucky.Yet he will still get to retire at 30 as long as his family/handlers don’t rob him before he figured it out. Even crazy busts have it made these days.
I doubt your doubt. Does Robert Williams have a bum knee and a crazy dad?Doubt it - kid is unbelievably gifted physically. Robert Williams is probably the perfect comp for him.
He crazy because he called out the haters in the fan base or criticized the coaching?I doubt your doubt. Does Robert Williams have a bum knee and a crazy dad?
I'm his psychoanalyst. I've diagnosed him.He crazy because he called out the haters in the fan base or criticized the coaching?
See Karmelo AnthonyThis is what happens when you let your family or handlers control your career. They do what's best for them, not for you.
I’m sure you’d give back $2.5mil. lolJQ made millions off of UK, and wound up essentially never playing. He could have left the program, given the money back in part, to make this right. But he didnt. The right thing to do would have been to come back to Kentucky for a 2nd year, maybe for a lesser NIL deal, but it would give him a full off season to come back and potentially be a lottery pick. And hed make up his end of the contract. Dont think thats a lot to ask of him, and its not like he wouldnt get paid for year 2.
.. but you know what, he'd probably have bailed on us again. One small knee tweak and he shuts it down. So honestly, good riddance. Only Shaedon and Khalil Whitney are lower than him in my eyes. I suspect we will never see much of him in the NBA.
Exactly, he has not crushed it so far since the injury. If it continues to swell up when he plays, he is finished which is why I posted hoping he/they (his handlers/family) invested the money or put it somewhere it is drawing interest and have not spent it.Let's revisit this when he crushes it in the NBA. That would be illegal. They are not employees. The contracts are for name, image and likeness. That’s what you’re paying for. You can’t tie production into someone’s name. That would be ruled illegal in any court.I wish they would structure some kind of contract where if they don't play they must forfeit most of the money and if it is because they were injured then they must come back the next year and keep the money. If they decide not to and go on to the NBA or transfer, forfeit the pay.
Maybe so under current rules, but it used to be illegal to pay players so, hopefully they could find a way later legally to change the rules/laws for what the players statuses are (employees/players) because essentially, they are under current conditions to me anyways because they are being paid either way. That would be illegal. It’s almost as stupid as people who believe showing an ID to vote in an election is wrong.
The problem is when you make them actual employees, shoo wee, that’s when the proverbial can of worms gets opened up.Maybe so under current rules, but it used to be illegal to pay players so, hopefully they could find a way later legally to change the rules/laws for what the players statuses are (employees/players) because essentially, they are under current conditions to me anyways because they are being paid either way.
I suppose so, although UK is paying for NIL they also picked him up to play basketball and the NIL was due to his ability to do so. It's almost like splitting hairs there. The problem is when you make them actual employees, shoo wee, that’s when the proverbial can of worms gets opened up.
Understood and agree but once they are employees, they’re all employees, not just the high level players like JQ or just the high level sports like basketball and football.I suppose so, although UK is paying for NIL they also picked him up to play basketball and the NIL was due to has ability to do so. Yeah, once again I get it, UK paid for NIL but we did not get what that NIL was built on.
NIL opened up a can of worms no matter how you look at it.Understood and agree but once they are employees, they’re all employees, not just the high level players like JQ or just the high level sports like basketball and football.
Btw, I like how you left out the millionaire part. That matters. They are pros. Pros deserve praise and when they suck, they deserve what comes with it. Did he give the money back? Of course not. You are a simpleton.“I don’t think hating on a — — — teenager is a ticket to Hell” ?….? Care to quote that Bible verse?
I feel for you brother.
That's Jamal Sunburn. Remember that race baiting turd?
Who is praying? We are talking basketball. Not church. You bible thumpers can’t take a day off? Even God rested 1/7 days. With a prayer like that, who are praying to?
You might be the worst poster on this board and that’s saying a ton.they used to sell injury insurance for players who obviously had future PRO careers but returned to college for another year or played in international or Olympic competitions.
Maybe having the reverse type of insurance to protect a school’s investment is an option- Ky could have paid $500K to insure JQ played a certain amount of minutes or they got their money back & JQ still kept his NIL MONEY?
