I am a HUGE on of fan of Rick Beato and LOVE watching his videos ... fans of this band have carpet-bombed his email address ... and look at the views on this video in only a month. Rick is a life-long musician and producer, so he shares his views on the "microtonal" sound and talks about the fret spacing on the dude's guitar. He is impressed by this band and said he'd definitely go see them perform live. So would I ... but in a smallish venue.

I have revisited some John Bush-era Anthrax from the early 2000s I slept on at the time. This is one of the heaviest songs they ever made (any lineup).
Listening to music on yet another rainy day and somewhat amazed to learn that July 1st will mark the 35th anniversary of the release of WOODFACE, a fabulous album by Crowded House ... so many GREAT songs on it ... fourteen (14) in total ... geez ... !!!

Been getting an earworm for Death Cab for Cutie lately.

Been listening to some of the great Motown performers. Currently bingeing The Temptations.
Interesting that during the heyday of Motown that when they appeared on TV they had to lip sync and have these choreographed dance moves. Including on this gem, “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg”.
And then there’s this simple yet catchy toetapper, “Get Ready”.
And then there’s this masterpiece. I love that there’s the steady, unchanging baseline and percussion that drives the beat. Then the extra sounds that are folded into the mix, including the strings, guitar with wahwah effects, the hand claps, and the solo trumpet with echo. And the story that is told through children asking mama about papa.

Sounds like the post-hardcore/emo I listened to 20 years ago
That’s because Pure Noise Records puts on a lot of pop punk and emo. I still dabble in those genres time to time, but I’d say hip hop artists have carried that music forward very well these days.
Unfortunately, this artist is no longer with us but if you like classic emo and pop punk with hip hop and trap beats, this is hard to beat.
Here’s another great one, but this artist is also deceased. These songs are very dark but they capture a very relaxing disturbed vibe. Very much an extension of classic emo into trap music.

That entire concert by Mazzie Star is just wonderful. I love Hope Sandoval's vocals.
Got a 3 month trial of XM while we travel for vacation. The Cure came on. Such an underrated band.
I haven't really listened to her other work, to be honest. I love this particular song as it's so haunting. It brings me back to my youth.
