PREVIEW: Iowa sends eight athletes to Final X on Friday

ICYMI - my full preview of tomorrow's Final X action in Newark is up:

Iowa wrestlers flock to Final X, set for Friday in Newark - On3

On the men's side, Spencer Lee (57kg) and Stephen Buchanan (97kg) will wrestle best-of-three series for a spot on the World Team.

Meanwhile, Austin DeSanto (61kg) and Patrick Kennedy (79kg) will wrestle for true-third.

And for the women, it'll be Everest Leydecker (55kg) and Macey Kilty (62kg) going for the World Team - plus Felicity Taylor (50kg) and Reese Larramendy (65kg) going for true-third.

Action starts at 11:30am (CT) with the true-third matches. Then Round 1 of the best-of-three finals will begin at 1:00pm (CT) - followed by Round 2 and Round 3 (if necessary) at 4:00pm (CT).

Only the individual that represent the USA at the World Championships or Olympic Games are considered “World Team” members or Olympians.

Reese Larramendy also gets a true third forfeit win. I understand the Final X finalists asking for delays to be as healthy as possible, although I don't agree with it at all and hope they change that going forward. I understand people forfeiting out of a tournament after they lose or get injured the same weekend. I don't understand third placers waiting multiple weeks until the last minute to just not compete unless they tripped getting off the scale and hurt themselves.

Patrick loses to Evan Wick 4-8

I wish this wouldn't have been the first match up between the 2.
Such a unique/different feel when you face a guy like Wick with his length.
I feel good if Patrick sees him again, but it's hard to say if Wick will make the cut
again, so the rematch might not ever happen.
