I missed the injury, but I saw right after the restart, a Qatar player went in for an aggressive and ill-advised challenge

It was nasty and definitely uncalled for. I’m surprised the ref had to wait for VAR to confirm serious foul play. He very likely ruined that young man’s career.

What was the injury? They never showed it again and all they ever said was it was an extremely bad tackle from behind. That could be a broken bone, or a destroyed knee. I was watching but was looking down at my iPad when it happened. The reaction from the Canadians was instantaneous and vehement.

Qatar played like thugs. Not interested in Canada winning but glad they ran up the score on those mercenaries.

I've watched it on multiple replays on YouTube and the vast majority of comments on those videos don't support your opinion that it was intentional.
