The online and Mobil banking with Candence is pretty much gone. I just tried to set up my new account with Huntington, but I can't do that until Monday. I have already moved all my deposit to the new account. I really feel like I am blind right now. I am guessing I need to activate my new debit card Monday. The lady at Huntington said what would be showing in my online banking with Candence if it was still open will be showing in my Huntington online Monday. I sure hope she is correct.

I saw branches in Tupelo this a.m. w/ Cadence banners draped over signs hanging on the buildings. I wondered if that was new Huntington signs under the Cadence banners or what? Why else would Cadence be making new banners?

Apparently Cadence accounts will remain active thru the rest of the year. So there’s no rush to switch accounts over to Huntington yet. It was kind of tedious setting up the new mobile app; had to use the new mortgage account number to get it started. Once I got in, it showed our mortgage balance, but doesn’t show our checking account values yet (I had brief wishful thinking that our mortgage balance was our checking account balance).

When they moved from BancorpSouth to Cadence I barely noticed the transition but this has been a shitshow. I've begun moving my deposit accounts and recurring transactions to other banks and should have my Cadence cash accounts cleared and closed early next month. Unfortunately my mortgage is with them so I'm stuck with that for now.

Were you with Bancorp or Cadence before that happened? Because in that one, Bancorp was just re-branded to Cadence. It was Cadence that had to convert to Bancorp's core systems.

I live in Tupelo and was in the downtown Renasant a few weeks ago. There was at least 20 people in there moving everything over from Cadence. I am friends with a few local bankers, and they told me they have picked up 100s of new clients from them because of this. Banks merge all the time, but the way this one has gone has not been great.

On May 26th I received an email with my new business id and login. Tried logging in and it said id or login not found. This is supposed to be a learning period so next week when the change happens it’s easier. Customer service told me to try back after the change. Next week will be a nightmare for me.

I'm just trying to decide which bank to go to.

Any state chartered bank with the budget to do it has a team together from marketing to front line licking their chops over this. Especially ones in a Cadence heavy market. I won’t advertise publicly, but I can get you in touch with somebody if you’re in a market where one of those is. You could probably walk in the front door of any of them and just tell someone your a Cadence customer and want out and they’ll be ready to help you.

If you work for Cadence it’s the same. State banks are on the hunt to poach all the talent.

Wait a couple of years and most of the smaller banks will be absorbed by bigger banks. This deal made Huntington National Bank the 10th largest US Bank.

If any of yall make the trip to Minneapolis to watching State vs Gophers, they will be playing on Huntington Bank stadium. If you find your way to a Cleveland Browns game, you will be watching inside Huntington Bank Field. There will be more absorptions by multiple large banks. So you can move your business, but unless it is Regions or maybe Trustmark, there is a good chance most others will be targets over the next 5-8 years.

It is inevitable.

Well, I see that Huntington is going to pay 6.05% interest to the grandfathered cadence performance checking customers. Only on balances up to $30k, but still - that's nice. If they terminate that account, I'm moving...

I’m not surprised

I knew there’d be headaches when I posted about the merger in April…

I’m keeping my mortgage with Huntington; however, the parents’ accounts are being consolidated to another institution…

Well, when Cadence and BCS merged, they jumped to 350 branches. Now they have merged with Huntington. So small institutions like Bank First and Bank Plus are not too big to be purchased. Of course it would depend on what large banks would be interested in those footprints.

I was with bancorp. Maybe that was a tougher experience for the cadence customers.

The bank in the state least likely to put you thru being bought is regions. Not saying they can’t be bought but they are large enough to make a purchase more difficult. I don’t think either renasant or trustmark want to sell but they are a perfect size with a good low cost deposit base that banks like to purchase.

I’ve never worked at Huntington but I’ve worked with them on deals in the past and I’ve always thought they were a solid bank. It’s odd to me they have made such a debacle of this. Cadence was a decent size bank but Huntington should have been able to fold them in seamlessly.

Got all my accounts finally moved this week to a local bank. I started out with Bancorpsouth and over the years, I went from earning decent interest to the account costing me money because of fees. Never once did I get any info that my account set up was changing. And the customer service at the local branches (which had declined from 5 down to 2) had taken a big dive. Seems like they focused less on customer interaction, especially the last couple of years.

Curious what’s the **** show?
I received all my new account numbers, business and personal, new debit cards to be activated on Monday, and was able to enroll in Huntington online banking easily.
I did call my local branch manager about the routing and account number changing and they assured no direct deposits would be impacted right now. But to just change over any manual Bill Pays.

I guess it could be a **** show next week… and certainly not without an inconvenience, but I read the loads of mail they sent and everything has been smooth.

Less of an inconvenience than switching banks to another one that is likely to get bought, too.

Also, that Perf Checking rate they have is fire, over 6% is what I’m getting.

My wife got a letter today letting her know about the transition and how it would affect her investment account.

Neither she nor I are aware of her having a Cadence investment account, and we've certainly never received mail to our address about one.

Now she did work at BancorpSouth 25+ years ago, but that was pre-marriage and several addresses ago.

See my post above. I can’t access the new site to get things ready for Monday. Customer service said wait until after the transition and call back. They also said it’s a known issue with a lot of the transfers. Monday, and days after, will 100% be a **** show for a lot of business owners.

Edit to add. Speaking of **** shows. I can’t access my Cadence account this morning. Huntingdon shut it down at 6 yesterday.

I received all of my new account numbers and cards, but never got a prompt on the app or website to enroll in Huntington. I tried to enroll by putting in the new account numbers they sent me with no luck. I asked my local branch manager and was told "We have no clue. Wait until Monday and see if it works then."

Yesterday it turned into a **** show... I've been getting letters for months and thought I was prepared but not after my Cadence branch called me yesterday. On top of completely having to set up Bill Pay on Monday, I find I'll have to re-set-up direct deposit again before the end of the year. I went to do a Bill Pay yesterday and Deposit were gone from my app a day early.

the new signage will be unveiled on Monday. Seems like a waste to install new signage and then cover it up until Monday.
