I like the excitement of recruiting also. But first and foremost I want UK to win championships. Projected draft pick positions for high school kids don’t equate to the best CBB players. Unless one defines “best” as draft position rather than efficiency, net positive production, and biggest impact on winning. If it meant that was the only way you landed those guys and brought back Moreno, I'd be fine with that. That's four top 20 picks. You can figure out lineups later.
Getting Rajon's kid would be sick.Would love to snag them both. Pierre is legit, plays with very good control at such a young age.
Agree. Unfortunately there are folks who ALL they care about is recruiting rankings, and following said recruits throughout their NBA career.I like the excitement of recruiting also. I think it’s still necessary to bring in good projectable freshmen. Freshmen can make really good backups, play important minutes, and develop at the same time. A freshman in the starting lineup can obviously work, and they all deserve the same chance to compete for a starting position as the other guys. But if 3 freshmen truly deserve to start then your team isn’t likely a title contender.
You know, I suppose that all of us UK basketball fans that post here like to follow recruiting to a degree. But it does seem like there is a group of UK fans who consciously or unconsciously view high school recruiting on par with winning games as far as their enjoyment goes. Of course, CBB is a form of entertainment and every fan has a right to enjoy whatever aspect of CBB they want, and to whatever degree they want.Agree. I do like watching potential players and trying to gauge how impactful they might be in CBB, especially in a year 2 or 3. But I don’t care about the recruiting service rankings of high school kids or whether or not some kid is considered to be a future lottery pick in the NBA draft, because I don’t view those things as too relevant to whether a player can help UK win a championship - particularly when most of the “5-star” prospects don’t stay at a college long enough to be better options than a lot of upperclassmen who may never play in the NBA.
Now if we go back to a time before OAD & NIL, when most players stayed for multiple years and you could therefore stack recruiting classes, recruiting rankings (which are largely attempts to predict future upside) arguably had much more relevance to a program chasing titles.
Same can be said aboht popes formula, loading up with seniors with no upside to their game wont get you anywhereI like the excitement of recruiting also. Transfer portal heavy HOPEFULLY. The next two-three years of recruiting is supposed to be very average to lower. We’re really going to have to be picky and choosy next year
It generally will need to be a mix.Same can be said aboht popes formula, loading up with seniors with no upside to their game wont get you anywhere
Not if several key players get injured. It would have been nice to see what the 2025 team could have achieved at full strength.Same can be said aboht popes formula, loading up with seniors with no upside to their game wont get you anywhere
