Wish the hawks would get into that players tourny in vegas...pays out a million into nil pot for each team.
That tourny has most top programs outside Duke who has set up their own nil schedule with Amazon.

Would be a nice trip for hawk fans as well with chance to see 2 hawk games.

Talked with Ben McCollum about this last November. He contacted the Players Era folks and asked if they could be in it. They were not interested.

I heard the Players Era has had some problems paying the teams that competed, Virginia has already pulled out of next years Tournament.

Haven't heard anything on this topic for a while. I think the solution to the "less teams want to play us" is simple -join pre-season tournaments where you are guaranteed a couple of game against good (sometimes really good) opponents. Maui, Bahamas, Alaska, whatever.

For Example, last year we did the Acrisure Series and I thought it was good pre-season competition. No top 20 teams but no terrible teams either. We played a solid power 5 team in Ole Miss and I think Grand Canyon was a solid mid major team.

A home and home with Marquette would be fun. The game there would be in downtown Milwaukee.

I've been wanting to see a game vs the service academies in football for years, I have no idea what their basketball teams are like but a game versus one of the service academies would be cool.

Nice. IMO, I would rather play the other neutral game in Souix Falls or play a team like Bradley or DePaul in the Quad Cities... but good news nonetheless!

Yeah, playing Army at West Point would be cool, the academy bleeds history. They would come here too of course.

When McCollum said during the season, "good, we hope it's hard", or something along those lines when we were playing out on the west coast, it really stuck with me. Dude doesn't back down from a challenge. He totally embraces them. This series with Alabama proves that.

This will be a great pre-season test. Not surprised they are pre-season ranked as they've had consistent success lately.

Alabama has six consecutive trips to March Madness. Those trips include three Sweet 16s, one Elite 8, and one Final Four. So, quality opponent for sure.

Still haven't seen us schedule a pre-season tourney for next year like we did last year (Acrisure in Palm Springs). I thought that worked out well.

Nice add to the schedule. Bama has been tough in recent years, so that'll be an opportunity for a big non-con quad 1 (presumably) win. Also the game is in DSM which I believe will count as a neutral court, which the NET will like.

Ben historically has never played at a quick pace. Even when he’s had national championship teams. Now he might play faster than last year, but he’s just not going to change what works.

Interesting nonconference scheduling, that's for sure.

Excluding multi team events, not sure if IOWA has ever had this many neutral site nonconference games.
