Besides the US, what other World Cup team are you rooting for?

Scotland. I've enjoyed the Tartan Army clips on the interwebs. I'd like to join in for a pre and post match celebration but I may not function for the week after.

I recommend getting them into your social media algo. It's great.

I’m pulling for Scotland and Japan

Japan definitely picked me up as a fan for plenty of reasons.

I’m finding myself pulling for Engjand. Actually have the talent to challenge for it and they kinda feel like State baseball a little bit in that a country that crazy about a sport should win it all every so often.

This is precisely my reason as well. That and I can quote every line in Braveheart.

Other than the US, I’m pulling for all the Arsenal players…

Don't forget some of their best:

England all the way! I was very impressed with Japan after seeing them in person, and if they or South Korea go far, I'll be on that bandwagon.

Not a bad strategy either. I pull against Argentina, Mexico, and Portugal. If Italy was in it they would be #1 on the hate list.

What’s going on with Italian soccer??

I was wondering why I hadn’t seen them yet and a little searching tells me they haven’t been in the last 3 World Cups.

That seems unbelievable, especially with this expanded field.

Part is Europe has always had fewer spots than it deserves (13 bids in 2022 when based on merit they probably should have had 20). Part is whacky UEFA qualification process and group draws. But by far the most part of it is massive failures by the teams. I mean they won the freaking Euro in 2020, but missed the World Cup in both 2018 & 2022.

I haven't decided yet but it's not gonna be Argentina even though I like Messi. I generally don't support England but I like Kane. I suspect it will come down to countries I enjoy visiting and players I like. Can I decide after the championship game and post it here like I always supported that team? Or maybe, as a PSG fan, Allez Les Bleus. But I'm also a Liverpool fan. An England/France final would be interesting but not as interesting as a U.S. vs. anyone final

Same here with Japan. Their effort against the Orange was damn impressive and made me a fan. It's a fast group up front, too - I think they'll give some teams a lot of problems. Not to mention the enjoyment they are sharing about American food, and cleaning up the stadium. Great stories coming out about their fans all over.

I would pull for England too, but I think they might stand in the way of the US. Other than that possible July 4 date with destiny, I like your analogy with State baseball.

I don't generally root for Germany in much of anything, and know 17all abt soccer, but everything about their team just looks cool. Die Mannschaft is a cold-asss team name too.

Nazi humor aside, we went to the USMNT send off match two weeks ago in Chicago against the Germans. There were way more German fans there than I expected, and overall they were a rowdy but fun bunch. It was a hard fought game, but I thought a really well behaved and great crowd on both sides. Lots of friendly back-pats and cheers afterward.

FYI, those people like to drink beer.

I'll pull for Germany and Japan, and any team that plays/beats those 17'n Argentinians.
