Just returned from vacation and if you ever get the chance...

go to the Cape Cod League for a few days and watch some games. It's essentially a college all star tournament but in the setting of little league. You can bring folding chairs and to watch that level of talent so closely was a great experience. I'm not a huge baseball fan (learned to like it b/c my son plays it) but this is something even if you just like amd don't love baseball - go. We watched Jacob Parker Tuesday night. Got to see Tague Davis from Louisville who hit 34 HR this year. Went to 3 games and decided to skip the Red Sox game because we enjoyed it so much. We ended up just doing a tour of Fenway instead.

I had a work conference in Boston and we made a vacation out of it.

I bet that trip was a blast. I’ve been a lot of places, but never made it to Boston.

Love Boston, The food in the North End, the history, the pubs. The Red Sox are struggling this year, but love games in Fenway, the tour is awesome as well. Will have to add Cape Code League games on my next opportunity.

Yep! On of my next drive around America trip will be to watch Cape Cod baseball. I have wanted to go for a while. Thanks for sharing.

Been to Boston a couple of times for business and have stayed the weekends after finishing work. The city is full of colonial history that is fascinating and the food is great. Boston is the only city that I needed to stop for directions because of all the one-way narrow streets especially after coming out of the airport tunnel. Made the mistake of asking a crotchety old gas station attendant for directions and the only thing I learned was a lot of new curse words with a Boston accent urging me to get out his city. I never did figure out what his problem was but I think it was my southern accent.

Sounds great. Next time wheel up a patio grill and cook some burgers and dogs, show em how to do it right!

We went to 3 Chatham Anglers games. Chatham has Jacob Parker (for a few weeks and then he heads to team USA) and also Duke Stone and Jack Gleason. Both Stone and Gleason had yet to make it up there.

One night we drove to Newport, RI and were not planning baseball. Across the street from our hotel was the Newport Gulls who are part of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. It's a step down from the Cape League but Newport had 4 (some former) Mississippi State baseball players - Peter Mershon, Braden Booth, Maddox Miller, and Parker Rhodes. We ended up going to the game. It was a weird field - 280 ft down the right field line. I've seen bigger backstops in 8U baseball.

Ran the marathon 5 times. Awesome town. Sat on the Green Monster for a game. It was worth every penny.
