Olivia Miles breaks another rookie record

Boy they really are trying to get Miles to take Caitlin's spot, aren't they.........disappointing.

Hell, they even gave up on trying to sell Paige > CC and went straight into strapping the jet pack on Miles.

You don't hear sh** about Paige anymore except for the few stans and anti-CC baiters on social media trying to post rage bait stat spin on how Paige has taken back the hype that CC got from her while Beuckers was injured.

Again.....disappointing.

Olivia Miles is having a fantastic season and seems to be getting better every game. But I think it's hilarious that the biggest talking point for the CC Haters was that Clark has never won a championship. You can't be considered one of the greats if you've never won a chip, they reasoned. Now they want to crown Miles as the next player who's better than CC. The problem is that she's never won a championship either. In 5 seasons at Notre Dame she never made it past the Sweet 16 despite playing with multiple current and future WNBA players. She transferred to TCU for her 6th and final season and finally made it to the Elite 8, but got blown out by 26 points.

So of course the Haitlins pivoted and argued that's okay because she won a state championship in high school. High school. That's apparently the benchmark for athletic excellence now. Miles played for a private boarding school in New Jersey that has won 10 state championships, 9 of them without Miles.

The haters want everyone to believe Bonner wanted out of Indy because of Clark or the Tres Leches or racial tension or whatever agenda the haters happen to be pushing on any given day. My sense is that it mostly came down to Bonner simply wanted to reunite with her fiancee. It's not merely coincidence that she immediately went to Phoenix after the Fever released her from her contract.

You need to look at the numbers.

Caitlin averages 20.4 points on 15.7 shots a game. That's 1.30 points a shot. Kelsey averages 1.33 points a shot. Paige comes in at 1.33, Sykes 1.32 and Rhyne Howard 1.31. Among the top scores only A'ja and Plum have significantly higher.

So CC, Kelsey, Paige, Howard, and Sykes are pretty much a dead heat.

Caitlin's 3 point shooting is off. But her 2 point shooting percentage is outstanding.

Including assists and free throws, her offensive efficiency is near tops in the league. When she has her hands on the ball, good things happen.

CC not a fanboy illusion, as you imply.
Points per shot is a terrible stat to measure productivity and efficiency. Completely misleading for a number of reasons especially due to FTA inclusion.

You can’t look at those players shooting percentages and conclude anything other than they are superior. Unless you are a fanboy or fangirl.

Effective Field Goal percentage is a much more accurate and comprehensive indicator. It doesn’t look good for CC there. Not at all. Just admit she has to be much better and much more efficient. It’s not difficult nor is it controversial nor will it mean that she’s not an outstanding player. And it might be good for your soul.

Oh, look, Moral, too, has waddled over from the Clemson Off Topic board.

Here's all you need to know about Moral:

The Associated Press reported that Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed had been campaigning with Hasan Piker, a controversial online streamer.

Piker, among other very controversial things, commented that “America deserved 9/11.”

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Piker was largely unapologetic for his past remarks.

And Moral's response to that candidate campaigning with the guy saying our country deserved 9/11?

Now you've gone and made another one of them go jerk it. Shame on you.

I still see a lot about PB, in fact she’s number 2 in all star voting.

they’re just pushing Miles bc she’s a rookie averaging about 20ppg. She’s on fire.

She wins in the game of life. Sponsorships proves that.

Personally I think Bonner had a different idea of what her role would be. Or at least was sold a different idea. She didn’t handle it well, though.

So, below whose standard. Regardless of her % she's averaging around 20 and 8. How many players in the league are doing that? It seems like people are expecting her to run out there and drop 32 and 10 like she did at Iowa. Problem is she's playing against better athletes on a nightly basis and the league/refs, whomever are letting her get grabbed at every turn. The pressure on her has to be other worldly, yet she handles it most of the time pretty well.....

Standard for any All Star/MVP caliber guard.

You're acting like I said she's on her way out of the league since she's not dropping 32/10 a night.

I said she's had a handful of below standard to bad games so far.

If you don't think she's had bad games then there really isn't a point in continuing this conversation.

You're the one that posted that she was taking too many shots to get to 20 points/game. I'll quote you - "Just way way way too many shots to get to 20 points a game." - "IowaCityLit," post #6636. If it's such a "terrible" and "misleading" stat, why are you citing to it to make your point? And why are you b!tching at me for using the same metric you used? You don't make any sense.

Miles was gifted an absolutely perfect situation.

Dallas had the #1 pick, and used it to pick their best player’s girlfriend rather.
Minnesota had the #2 pick because of an absolutely stupid trade that Chicago made. Chicago traded their 2026 1st rounder so that they could pick Hailey Van Lith at #11 in the 2025 draft.

Miles was an easy pick for Minnesota to make at #2, regarded by many as the best player in the draft. She ends up going to a team that was just in the finals two seasons ago and had the best record in the league last year, with a roster that is stacked, and the woman considered the best coach in league history. She was perfectly set up to have a great start to her career.

PB, CC, and AB were all expected to come in and be saviors to their teams coming out of the draft. Miles was just expected to be a cog in the machine for the Lynx and she has thrived in that role. She’s doing great, but things would be very different if she were drafted by Chicago and forced to play on a roster that isn’t stacked around her.

Long story short, just imagine if the Fever drafted Cam Brink for “personal reasons”. Then the Aces pulled off some absolutely bonkers trade with the Sparks the previous season so that they could draft Clark in the #2 spot. What could Clark be doing with that roster surrounding her instead of a team that hasn’t had a true starting caliber SF or PF for most of her tenure so far, plus a SG next to her that doesn’t play defense.

Miles was rated highly, but throughout the last year all things were pointing to Fudd being the better pick. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Miles is having an outstanding beginning to the season but that doesn't mean Fudd can't grow into her roll and have an outstanding career.

I think that was probably the second biggest factor in her wanting out. My completely uninformed, outsider opinion is that SW convinced DB to follow her to Indy. DB started missing her fiancee immediately but it became condition critical when she lost her starting job.

The racial tension narrative simply doesn’t hold water and I think Sydney Colson is the best explanation for why I believe that. Syd doesn’t seem like the type of person who would suffer nonsense quietly. And yet every time I saw her in games or on the bench or on social media she was having a blast interacting with all of her teammates, regardless of their skin color.

I think most racial tension speculation on social media is 99% BS. I'm sure she missed her S/O but in Indy there were the Big 3 and then everyone else. SW did solid things with Alyssa Thomas, but outside of that, she hasn't really utilized forwards the same way. Look at Howard last year vs this year. Even Billings is only getting like 12 minutes per game.

I agree with you. I think Bonner started cold, got benched, and quickly realized it was not what she signed up for.

Too bad it took 4 years for Nike to get a Caitlin Clark signature shoe to the market. Might have helped out their stock price.

Idiots.

The 4 year timeline of Caitlin's Nike partnership:

Oct 10, 2022: Caitlin's initial NIL partnership with Nike started.

Apr 23, 2024: Caitlin signed an 8-year endorsement deal with Nike worth a reported $28 million. This contract, one of the most lucrative in women's basketball history, included a signature shoe and apparel collection.

Sep 29, 2026: Caitlin's debut signature Nike sneaker, the Nike Caitlin 1, is expected to launch, with broader releases during the 2026 holiday season. The shoe will feature a full-size run, including adult ($140), grade school ($115), and preschool ($105) sizes.

Nike stockholders have one question:

Why?

That’s actually not quite correct. The trade that gave Minnesota the #2 pick this year was the draft day trade in 2024 that allowed Chicago move up to #7 and pick Angel Reese. One of the conditions of that trade was that Minnesota got the right to swap 2026 first round picks with Chicago.

The HVL trade gave Minnesota both of the first round picks instead of just the better one. So Minnesota would have had the #2 pick regardless of the HVL trade.

If not for the HVL trade, Minnesota still would have picked #2 this year and Chicago would have picked #15.
