I mean, that was the first win over a team that finished the season in the top 25 since 2019 Minnesota. It’s still a valid concern.
With a now functional offense I think Iowa can get back to that 1 big upset win a year we seemed to always get, but we have to wait and see if that’s the case.

Definitely not a "wtf win", Hawks always had a real chance to beat Vanderbilt. I still believe it was a significant win, which is something that we lacked during season after we lost to Indiana, Oregon, and USC.

A WTF win is definitely in reference to like a #3 Penn State (Or Michigan or whatever…) getting beat in Kinnick as has happened several years ago. Or a 55-24 stomping of Ohio State as another example.
We were three point underdogs to Vandy and won by 7. Our four losses were by 15 points. One was a single digit loss to the national champs. So close.
Indiana where we gave them a pick right out of the gate and then the damn missed wide open screen pass at the end. That game was a fist fight.
Lester's functioning offense just has 2 games out of 26 for more than 200 yards passing.
Nate Stanley had ten 200+ yard games (1 over 300yds) in 2019 under OC BRIAN FERENTZ.

With 7 NFL skill guys and 2 NFL Pro Bowler linemen Brian put up 25.8 PPG (88th) against the mighty B1G West. That is a horrendous level of production relative to talent on the team. When the talent other coaches recruited dried up Brian's offense got exposed for what it was, trash.
With maybe 1 skill guy going to the NFL (Vohname), Lester put up 29.3 PPG (54th) this past season, and 27.7 PPG (72nd) in 2024 (with 1 NFL skill guy, KJ). Lester was left with a box of rocks talent wise and still outperformed Brian.
