Want?... thay wasnt the statement.

We had people spending hours explaining how this was all going to lead to boots on the ground and there was no other possible way. Saavy?
I guess we never considered we could always just give them everything they want and more so that we could get the strait back to its pre-war state. That’s on us I guess.

Good morning, JHP.

Yes, we all know Trump is delusional and an idiot. As has been pointed out numerous times, the 1.7 billion Trump is referring to was Iran’s money to begin with. Also, the JCPOA that Trump’s penis envy led him to rip up was signed by 7 countries in total, which included Trump’s dom tops China and Russia.

Let’s see how the Trump deal plays out first before you get too glib.

All we heard during the war was that Iran didn't control the Strait, we did, and that the Strait was open. Well now Trump is saying we had to sign the MOU because the Strait was closed. Which is it?

Yesterday was TACO Tuesday. Today is Waffle Wednesday.

Whatever Team Trump is dishing out to the public today will undoubtedly be “something terrific.”

I can’t wait.

But, but but..…I was told by MAGA the US was secretly getting the oil out of the gulf and that is why it wasn’t a higher price than the absurd price it already was.

Trump would never deceive and mislead his loyal followers. Despite not knowing anything about groceries he is a man of the people after all. The dems act like he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. That is just ludicrous…

…his spoon was gold.
You forgot to mention Trump flipped burgers at McDonald’s to further demonstrate he is truly a man of the people.

How does killing their leader, destroying their armed forces, de-nukeing them, and having control over how they spend the funds to rebuild look like losing to you?

Because we crashed a helicopter in the process?

Please elaborate.
I think you need to do more research on what we achieved. I know you're first instinct will be to run to Grok, but I recommend doing some actual research that goes beyond X, Parlor, Truth Social, or whatever far right social media you gorge yourself in.

The Islamic Republic is still in charge. Now they have an extra $300 billion at their disposal. There is no evidence that we destroyed their nuclear programs. In fact, recent reports state Iran still retains technical capabilities to produce a nuclear weapon relatively quickly. Now they have an extra $300 billion to help that process out. Iran also still has the capabilities to disrupt the Strait and impose major costs on global shipping and energy. Now that they have an extra $300 billion, who knows what else they can do to disrupt shipping lanes.

Oh, the f#cking irony. 😂

and were hell bent boots on the ground would be required
What has been accomplished in your view? Seems the naysayers were proven correct that “Mission Accomplished” would require more than depleting our supply of missiles.

arenow sh1tting themselves
No one is sh*tting themselves other than Donald Trump while napping during a press conference or intelligence briefing.

over a PE agreement to make sure they use our **** and our standards for a rebuild.
Sure, Whiskey Does Donald Trump. Sure.

Im sure the "how are we going to get the nukes without boots on the ground people" are just teeing up the happy thread.
You seem happy.

Indeed.

He gets it confused when liberals said the only way for the US to open Hormuz would be to put boots on the ground.
Or when we said the only way to do an actual regime change would be to put boots on the ground.

Those statements are obvious calls and cries to put boots on the ground.
crazy cuckoo GIF
Yep.

Do not get sucked in to WDDTs gaslighting and lies. Trump pulled the football and now he’s trying to save face.

Taking down all the sanctions is huge for them.

Well, the MOU would give Iran about $23-24 billion of its own money just for negotiating.

So if held to the same standards as the JCPOA, it is an utterly resounding failure.

Remember last year at this time when the White House’s official statement was that Iran’s nuclear program was “totally obliterated” and any suggestion otherwise was fake news?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I agree, among other things.

But I am willing to take a wait-and-see approach until the official agreement has been released.

If it’s a quarter as bad as what’s being floated out there, this will be me while the MIB pretzel twist their way into spiking the football in their own end zone:

I don't know that this makes him particularly "lucky."

His base is now pretty much just the 30% Dead Enders Club and we already knew nothing - literally nothing - Trump could do would lose their support.

But the 70%-plus of "normie" Americans aren't that stupid. They all know this was a complete and pathetic surrender that humiliated the U.S. and undermined our global power and prestige. And the GOP sycophants that were too chickens/hit to do anything about it will pay electorally.

Come on Torbee, don’t sell WDDT short like that. Anyone who says Hitler was a great leader and then doubles down on that opinion because he learned it in a level 300,000 sociology class is a well above average MAGA cult member.

I know you're still oblivious that we've all left but my goodness, you are a poor man's Ned. You have nothing on this gentleman. It's the same old story, there is always someone bigger, stronger, faster, etc.

You guys should start a debate. It would never end
well, you might not accept this, but there is always someone bigger, stronger, faster..and you could add richer, poorer, taller, shorter...

probably not a good sign that the Trump admin is telling people not to go by the MOU, they have back channel secret agreements with Iran. Iran is on double secret probation.
If this is accurate, trump will and should get eviscerated (figuratively)

I can't speak as to whether the metaphor was intentional or not, but oil is the closest analog we have to the spice at the moment. Oil is the commodity that makes our world move.

As much as I love the new movies, and I do as they are awesome, I regret that they dropped most of the political/economic subtext in the book as a lot of that would be very pertinent right now. But the religious aspect of the book was always the main engine, so I get it

If I had to say which character the USA is in our current excursion, I would say that we are the Padishah Emperor. We stand on pomp and circumstance, we believe that our military might is superior to all and that our workings and machinations will be enough to win out in a foreign land with not much more than a shock and awe attack.

Bibi is the bloated Baron who tries to use the Emperor's strength to his own gain.

While I don't think we necessarily have a Paul Maud'dib on the board the Iranians are clearly the Fremen.

On a side note, AI's ascension was foretold by Frank Herbert and it is not a pleasant thing.
I agree the Dune subtext has been applicable to the Middle east and it was always Herberts inspiration.
I watched Lawrence of Arabia for the first time this week. It blew my mind all the context around that time and place and where we are now.

We de-nuked them? Are you talking about when we de-nuked them last year, or when we went back in this year to de-nuke them again?

The leaked MOU says nothing about what happens to their enriched uranium. lt says they agree not to develop nuclear weapons in exchange for money. Sounds familiar.

The leaked text of the agreement, if accurate, indicates that Iran has emerged from the conflict in a stronger strategic position, however.

I, as well as others, said it weeks ago. From May 17:

They hold all the cards. Trump might have to give them nukes to get them to back down.
This wasn't in doubt as soon as Iran demonstrated they could close the strait and keep it closed. At that point, they were holding a straight flush - they could dictate many of the terms of any settlement.

Even if there may have been doubt Iran could manage a full closure, NO previous admin deemed it worth the risk to the global economy and American standing in the world to test it. It took a moronic, pathological, lying narcissist backed by a spineless party to pull the biggest US foreign policy blunder since Vietnam (and that's a mild assessment).

You sure about that? Honestly, you really believe we have trump as 47 and Americans aren't "that stupid"? I absolutely disagree.
I think Trump’s core base floor is adound 30% of voters - these are the dead enders.

Around 45% of voters are hardcore Never Trumpers.

That leaves around 25% - mostly independents and “country club” Republicans - that Trump was able to convince to vote for him as “at least better than the crazy commie black lady”.

That 25% - it is clear by polling and general sentiment - has MAJOR buyer’s regret at this point.

Which, IMHO, proves my point. Those people lived through his first term and thought "you know, we should give him another chance here". Stupid. A truly unforgivable level of stupidity.

I mean, I don't disagree. Let's say they are SLOW learners - it appears though that maybe they CAN still learn, albeit long after everyone else is like "uh, no s.hit he sucks."

We do need to get these people back to voting for non-lunatics though.

My point was simply that in 2016, or whenever, Obama gave Iran their money, that was ok. Now that Trump wants to give Iran back their money that's bad...seem a little inconsistent? Who cares if mAGA accepted the argument...now you're not accepting the same argument you accepted before. If it was "good" then shouldn't it be good now?
When did I, or any Democrat here, say that giving Iran back THEIR money is bad? I can tell you that it is a WHOLE LOT better than giving them OUR money. The point that I and other Democrats here have been making is that it was hypocritical for you to bray about Obama giving Iran "pallets of cash" back when the JCPOA was created, while you are now utterly silent upon learning that Trump apparently plans to give Iran roughly 15 times as much money.

Trump wants to pay that money in some form other than cash, so he can maintain that "no cash changed hands."

PUHLEEZE.

Have you ever received or given someone a check or money order? Ever received or sent a wire transfer? That's not giving and receiving money?
