as an aside, war and for that matter the military is a dangerous business..just look at the crash yesterday that claimed 8 lives...

Now if you have read my posts you'll know that I think Trump bungled this operation. I don't hate trump, I don't hate anyone. sorry. I just don't think trump is wrong on everything the same way a lot of you do, I don't think he's right all the time either.

See I don't get as worked up as you guys do over everything Trump says...and I try to stick with fact as opposed to opinions. Just an example I just responded to a post that said that congress just rubber stamps everything trump wants...sounds good..but isn't accurate. All you have to do is look it up.

And you know what, there are generally tow sides to every discussion. Your response to mine is indicative of that.

I've been in combat and I've lost friends. So I don't need a post to remind me of the pain families go through. My experience was Vietnam and likely more people asked the question "for what" about that war, than this one. Please don't try and lecture me about justifications for service members deaths.

@TJ8869

I know you're still oblivious that we've all left but my goodness, you are a poor man's Ned. You have nothing on this gentleman. It's the same old story, there is always someone bigger, stronger, faster, etc.

You guys should start a debate. It would never end

You're saying that this isn't part of the MOU? And if it actually is will you admit that Trump is giving the Iranians hundreds of billions and unfreezing assets and lifting sanctions as ransom because he lost his war?
Lets see what it does when its released.

Yes, I actually have. I deal in proper 1st and secondary sources, and have for 38 years as a researcher. Tertiary sources are generally sh&t, unnamed sources are absolute ****. You should have learned that at University. Yet, you believe blue sky nonsense. Your ignorance is wild. You actually pretend, along with your fellow Socialist, you know a single thing regarding an agreement which has been been released.

What's actually wild, is that, no one has posted more Iranian propaganda than you have against your own country. You're a joke. Own it.
And, still, you provide no sources. Stop grandstanding. You’ve been outed as a fraud before … why continue the ruse? You’re no “researcher” … you’re an old whackadoodle who probably has an interest in history, so you watch the History Channel, and read some books, like so many other old men with no researching skills and/or experience. You've proven yourself to be one of the LEAST reliable sources for facts - present-day or historical.

And what's with this new life story? You used to claim you were a working horse manicurist ... now you're 90? And you, apparently, have kids young enough to be getting their Master's in Finance? So, what's the story ... you didn't have kids until after you were 60? And, even though you were such a great catch, that no one wanted you until then, you convinced some chick 30 years or so your junior to reproduce with you? And you, the master alpha horse manicurist, produced beta boys, who are into business and numbers?

Regardless, it's obvious your mental faculties are dwindling ... why don't you chose to go out with some dignity, rather than ranting and raving like a lunatic? No one cares that you think others are pathetic, ignorant, gaslighting beta cucks (repeat hundreds of times), because you bring nothing to the table.

What is the Trump admin waiting for in releasing the deal terms? If it has been signed it has been signed and over the past 24 hours there is consistency in all the published leaks. Why wait for a ceremonial signing when everyone knows you signed it already?

I’m still waiting to weigh in on the final terms when the admin releases them, but if the terms in the news are accurate then this would appear to be a major capitulation to Iran. Are they just waiting because no one can figure out how to spin the sh*tshow? Or are they trying to figure out what it means to “ensure” the $300B?

well thank you..that' what I have been saying...maybe coming from someone else will help it's acceptance...this was political..

Who said that securing the strait was not an objective...not me. I have said or tried to say, that it was not one of the primary military targets. I also said that you'd need ground troops, but would need to take out defenses, capabilities to reinforce etc before introducing ground troops. Somehow it just seems to me that what people are saying is that the strait should have been higher up on the objectives list...OK, I can accept that opinion, but it's not what I would have done.
Securing the strait would be the #1 political and military objective three weeks into the war.

All we heard during the war was that Iran didn't control the Strait, we did, and that the Strait was open. Well now Trump is saying we had to sign the MOU because the Strait was closed. Which is it?

He just needs to give his followers and FOXNews enough to create the impression he won. Guarantee there are many praising him for getting the Strait open.

But, but but..…I was told by MAGA the US was secretly getting the oil out of the gulf and that is why it wasn’t a higher price than the absurd price it already was.

Trump would never deceive and mislead his loyal followers. Despite not knowing anything about groceries he is a man of the people after all. The dems act like he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. That is just ludicrous…

…his spoon was gold.

Spot on and perhaps literally drawn from imagining this exact scenario.

Herbert wove Persian and Arabic influences throughout Dune. The Padishah emporer, sardaukar, Lisan-al-gaib are straight up Persian. I’ve read he intended the spice to be a direct metaphor for Middle Eastern oil.

Does that make us the Harkonnens?
I can't speak as to whether the metaphor was intentional or not, but oil is the closest analog we have to the spice at the moment. Oil is the commodity that makes our world move.

As much as I love the new movies, and I do as they are awesome, I regret that they dropped most of the political/economic subtext in the book as a lot of that would be very pertinent right now. But the religious aspect of the book was always the main engine, so I get it

If I had to say which character the USA is in our current excursion, I would say that we are the Padishah Emperor. We stand on pomp and circumstance, we believe that our military might is superior to all and that our workings and machinations will be enough to win out in a foreign land with not much more than a shock and awe attack.

Bibi is the bloated Baron who tries to use the Emperor's strength to his own gain.

While I don't think we necessarily have a Paul Maud'dib on the board the Iranians are clearly the Fremen.

On a side note, AI's ascension was foretold by Frank Herbert and it is not a pleasant thing.

Im absolutely shocked the people who show up here every day to ***** their life away and were hell bent boots on the ground would be required are now sh1tting themselves over a PE agreement to make sure they use our **** and our standards for a rebuild.

Im sure the "how are we going to get the nukes without boots on the ground people" are just teeing up the happy thread.

Seems like you may get more of that aspect in the third movie.

He gets it confused when liberals said the only way for the US to open Hormuz would be to put boots on the ground.
Or when we said the only way to do an actual regime change would be to put boots on the ground.

Those statements are obvious calls and cries to put boots on the ground.

We lost a war to a country that you were adamant we were going to wipe off the map. You can hide behind your alpha bro ideology all you want but you're no better than the average MAGA cult member.

How does killing their leader, destroying their armed forces, de-nukeing them, and having control over how they spend the funds to rebuild look like losing to you?

Because we crashed a helicopter in the process?

Please elaborate.

Want?... that wasnt the statement.

We had people spending hours explaining how this was all going to lead to boots on the ground and there was no other possible way. Saavy?
