This narrative of harping on the cost of our roster is beyond old. Newsflash folks… LOTS of programs are spending big money on their rosters now, in basketball and football.
We always play like 7-8 cupcakes and 5-6 power teams ooc or around that.
If he’s harping on a 21 million dollar roster, his jaw would be on the floor if Duke ever revealed the actual costs of theirs
Yeah, someone post the schedule for Duke or Kansas. I bet they play 13 straight top 13 teams before conference play
and play them on the road....
All teams do play non power teams but these seem like the bottom of the barrel. Would be nice to see at least some decent mid majors instead of Grambling St., Bryant and the like
I like Dickie V but his love for Duke over the years has made what he says now irrelevant. Most all of the big schools play several cupcakes especially now that whole rosters change from year to year. You want to play some games to mesh before murders row.

Of course Duke has not listed their cupcakes, yet. So, if you look at their current ooc schedule, it does look pretty good: MSU, Illinois, UConn, Florida, Michigan, and Zaga. This will obviously be filled with the likes of Army and some random directional school.
KU: Fordham, Middle Tenn, UK, UNLV, Auburn or WVU in Vegas, Denver, Villanova, Northern Iowa, Mizzou, UConn, OSU, Indiana St, and New Orleans
UK: Manhattan, JMU, KU, Northern Arizona, Grambling St, IU, UVA, Bryant, UL, UNC, Sacred Heart, and Gardner-Webb
Not seeing anything to call out UK's schedule compared to others.
Last year UConn played New Haven, UMass Lowell, East Texas A&M and Bryant.

It’s not far off from our out of conference schedule from this past season. We finished with a top 5 schedule by the end of the regular season.
If you’re going to play cupcakes (everyone does) I’d at least play some locally like EKU or teams like Marshall, Northern Iowa and Middle Tennessee State. Respectable programs from non power conferences that could possibly make the tournament.

I actually wish that we would cut down the list of legit teams to about three or four for the pre-conference schedule.

We only ever play 1 or 2 power 4 teams at home ooc. Nothing new.
We need all the cupcakes we can get. Only way to stay ahead of Kansas until we can get a new coach.

The SEC schedule should have Arkansas and Kentucky playing home and away every year. Only playing once a year is absolutely ridiculous.
First Dickie V is losing it, the schedule is just as hard as when Cal coached here, Outside of a couple of arranged for TV games and conference games Cal never brought in any body tough to play either. Plus I honestly think Dickie V has lost some of his mental capacity these days.
Hell Duke has historically only played out of conference a couple of tough games and then looked for the biggest cupcakes for the rest but Vitale would never criticize Duke or most ACC schools because Vital has become a joke.
Vitale has turned on UK when his butt buddy Cal left, plus Vitale has become irrelevant the last few years, I really think he is losing it mentally.
I'm much easier on Vitale here than many but that is just a terrible take. We still have 2 games to schedule and it looks no different than any other OOC schedule for the past 10 years. Hopefully when they expand to 33 or 34 games and we start participating in a holiday exemption tournament, keep all of out existing classics and keep the rivalry games things will look a little better. As for right now it is no different than any other p5 school.
