Have gotta assume he would have gone in the top 2 rounds. Assume he will go in the 4th given the baggage. Unless he goes to Cleveland - they are used to a **** storm from the QB position.

But wait….I thought this was a mental health issue? Now he has the fortitude to make it in the NFL?

@NickRU714 -Any thoughts on Sorsby's latest move?

Takes the elephant out of the NCAAF room.
Just wondering if Texas Tech will still be there to help him with his addiction issues. . . . .

I had thought this would happen and he wouldn't be playing at TT .
But I also thought he'd go the deferred draft route after reaching a financial settlement with the NCAA to give up his eligibility.. Thar hasn't come out in the wash ( yet?)
Texas Tech and it's big booster Campbell now are pointing out Texas Tech didn't file the lawsuit nor asked for Sorsby to return the NIL money he received to play for TT .
Now TT and Campbell are playing nice and acting like they just were observers that were morally supporting a player attempt to regain his eligibility but weren't providing the funds to do so.

My opinion, without a shred of evidence to back it up , is Campbell and Texas Tech gave Sorsby a good chunk of change to go away and also let him keep all the NIL money he was promised .
Texas Tech couldn't stand the heat, so bought their way out of the kitchen to be accepted in the family room again without Sorsby being a member of the team making that hard to do

THIS is active Sorsby thread. The other thread is dead. Over. He is not at Texas Tech. I figured a fresh thread was warranted because the old thread title is stale. But a certain poster (not you) feels the need to keep responding to and posting in the old thread. Old habits die hard. I declare this thread the only LIVE Sorsby thread. Nobody gave me that power, but I am seizing it right now. :devilish:

They finally read the room.

Many.

Texas Tech: they are still going to be sanctioned right? Schools still canceling games?
They still planned on playing him.

Cincinnati/Indiana: when do the investigations into them begin? What did they know and when?
If nothing - why not? And is it still happening with other players?

Why wasn't Sorsby retroactively made ineligible from the first time he bet?
Shouldn't Indiana and Cincinnati have to forfeit games for playing an ineligible player?

For an incident that was "the downfall of college atheltics. Irreparable harmed the integrity of the game" is sure is being swept under the rug pretty quick now.

So a $5 million NIL payout for zero total in-game snaps… for their billionaire supporter, It is absolutely nothing. Jesus H what a effed up mess…

Just looking at his numbers at Cincinnati, what is all the hype about for him?

And, interestingly enough, we beat him on the road back in 2023 with Gavin Wimsett at the helm.

15/31 for 126 yds. with 1 TD for Sorsby.
5/12 for 39 yds for Gavin, but he ran for 143 yds and 3 TDs

Maybe Sorsby threw the game instead of throwing completions?

The boxscore I'm looking at shows 1 TD not 1 INT.

Oh, and Christian Dremel was our top receiver.

I doubt Sorsby received anywhere close to $5 million.

The $5 million amount has been reported, not confirmed. NIL details often enter the public domain during litigation but Sorsby's deal terms have not surfaced. Could be buried in court filings that are public but cost hundreds of dollars to access.

Whatever the NIL amounts, it is likely a mix money paid by the school and money paid by sponsors.

The NIL deals I've seen show monthly payments to players. TT won't being making any more monthly payments to Sorsby. The sponsors almost certainly have stopped paying him.

Plus, Sorsby owes $1 million to Cincinnati.

Sorsby could be insolvent.

this is true, it's all about the structuring of the deals. none of these kids get guaranteed monies and we've seen many of the reported deals listed higher than what the actual was when made public

My guess ,based on some things I read ,is the AZ Cards will take a chance on Sorsby in the supplemental draft's third round.
Pittsburgh might do after him in 2nd round needing a replacement for Rodgers in 2027, but I feel the Rooneys
might not feel his gambling isn't worth betting on before the 4th round he'll not relapse or need strict supervision to make sure he doesn't

Thinking about Geno Smith make the Jets contenders but doubt they use their #2 spot in the first three rounds to take him .

The Cardinals seem the most desperate, especially with a lifetime backup seemingly the best on their roster and he's holding out for a better payday

Yeah, that ain't gonna happen, we've got Drew Allar and Will Howard waiting in the wings, why would we want another development project? As it is with 4 QB's one of them is already bound to get cut when rosters are trimmed to 53.

Jets have three first round picks next year, so I could see them spending their second rounder on Sorsby. That pick would probably be good enough to get him. It may depend on how much they like Sorsby relative to Cade Klubnik, whom they drafted in the fourth round. And what they think of Brady Cook, who did an admirable job as Tank Commander down the stretch last year.

15yrs ago I'ad agree on the Rooneys but they are the not the same. After unsuccessfully trying to offload the newly minted contract of Ben when his issues arose, they went all in on saying fk it like the rest of the league. I could absolutely see them doing something stupid like this now

Completely disagree. They won't even sniff in his direction.

And looking at his numbers in the 3 years in which he played significant snaps, I just don't understand why anyone would risk more than a 3rd or 4th rounder on him.

I'm not saying they will, I'm saying I can see them doing it from the stand point that his past discretion means nada. the whole culture of the organisation is not what it used to be. We had a dog killing Michael Vick for a year which is a huge black eye. Team allowed the scumbags to vilify villeneueva for standing for the flag while the rest fell in line with all the bs. the Steelers are no longer a pure house so to speak.

the Rooneys fking suck now
