And maybe start blaming yourself.

Iowans’ alcohol consumption—in volume and frequency—is among the highest in the nation, and puts residents at greater risk for cancer, according to the 2024 Cancer in Iowa report issued by the Iowa Cancer Registry.

Well according to this we didn’t make the top ten. While I don’t deny alcohol consumption contributes, using your logic would put these states ahead of Iowa in cancer rates which simply isn’t true either.

Top 10 States for Cancer Incidence (New Cases per 100,000 People)
  1. Kentucky (~512 cases)
  2. West Virginia (~510 cases)
  3. Iowa (~506 cases)
    • Louisiana (~498 cases)
    • Arkansas
    • Maine
    • North Carolina
    • Mississippi
    • Delaware
    • Pennsylvania [1, 2, 3]

We didn’t make the top ten.

  1. New Hampshire: 4.67 gallons per person
  2. Delaware: 3.52 gallons per person
  3. Nevada: 3.42 gallons per person
  4. North Dakota: 3.16 gallons per person
  5. Montana: 3.10 gallons per person
  6. Vermont: 3.06 gallons per person
  7. Idaho: 2.94 gallons per person
  8. Wisconsin: 2.93 gallons per person
  9. Colorado: 2.88 gallons per person

The annual report, produced by the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa, notes that the state of Iowa has the fourth-highest incidence of alcohol-related cancers in the U.S. and has the highest rate in the Midwest.

Republican Governors in this State have gutted the DNR for years.

That Agency oversees pollution standards, enforces regulations, and is in charge of monitoring FAFOs.

OP is full of shiit.

Oh, I guess it has nothing to do with the nitrates and sh it and toxic goo in our waters. Whew!😰

Did a bit of looking into this topic the other night. Some of my findings:

1) Rural water in Iowa consistently has much higher rates of nitrates than city water. City water in Iowa is similar to cities elsewhere in the US.
2) One of the biggest cancer categories increasing across Iowa and the nation is GI cancers in people under 50.
3) There's a slight increase for this cancer if you live rurally, even controlling for lifestyle factors.
4) The Inuit people in the article circle -- no crop pesticides up there -- have all seen the largest increase in GI cancers of any group over the past 30 years or so.
5) This indicates lifestyle is the biggest factor.
6) One more piece -- the black population has pretty much flatlined where increase in GI cancer is concerned over the past 20 years. Whereas white population is seeing large increases.
7) Black population obesity was at a much higher baseline than white 20 years ago; it looks like whites are just playing catchup where bad lifestyle is concerned.
8) Iowa is really white. Older, drink a lot... plus the pesticides.
9) Given all this... I doubt pesticides are the biggest factor in increasing cancer rates in Iowa. (at least where GI stuff is concerned)

It’s Kim’s fault for poisoning our water. But you do you OP
This is all he has in life. Posting stuff in the belief he's more clever than everyone else. Insinuating he's elite small, private college clever. Posting stuff he isn't able to comprehend or defend when challenged. He gets his scratches between the ears, and then lays down and takes a beating. He just lays there and takes it like a lump.
This is what the algorithms are telling Northern to post. Cancer water polls terribly, so it is his job to come here and try and do damage control and change the narrative.

Then Wisconsin's cancer rates should/would be 10x what Iowa sees if booze is the cause.

The fact that there are zero Southern states here makes this list invalid.

The degradation of this State and the reasons for it are pretty clear.
Some just choose to ignore it.

Things start to change in November.

Unfortunately, it's probably not a quick fix.

This is pretty low even for op.

Using his same reductive reasoning I can only conclude he is genuinely a terrible person with no positive impact on the world around him.

It’s the biggest revenue source for state government.

That’s why I’d like to see the data behind it. If they’re just basing it off of booze sold in the state vs. population - this is way off. We got these nice mega liquor outlets at every border that attract massholes, mainers, and woodchucks from all around to save a little money on taxes. I have no idea how much money it makes for the state but there are always more out of state license plates than granite staters in the parking lots.

Yeah. I’m just saying a lot of people who are buyers of NH-based booze live elsewhere. So if they’re just doing something simple like taking the amount of booze sold in the state and dividing it by the amount of people in the state - that number is skewed AF. I can’t believe I’m defending Wisconsinites honor of being the drunkest state in the Union!

If they are using that simple maths, I bet Wisconsin's rankings took a hit when Minnesota started allowing booze sales on Sundays.
