New Texas Tech football quarterback Brendan Sorsby placed more than 10,000 wagers and at one point averaged 20 bets a day, national college sports site On3 reported on Wednesday, April 29.hahahahaha, this is great, this kid is a wacko for betting on his own team etc etc, real lack of control for an A+ athlete with probably an alpha personality, which maybe was the problem that he thought he could get away with the betting and then he claimed gambling addiction, which my gut says was a lie to get away with getting caught
He rec'd $5mm from TTU, owes $1mm to Cincy. A net gain of $4mm for not doing diddley. As they say, "it's good work if you can get it."Tech fought real hard to keep him they look pretty dumb now. Although with all the state AtG’s calling their case dumb I think they realized this is over, and probably paid him his whole NIL deal and told him to go away.
However, he is technically still fully eligible. Typically the supplemental draft is for players who have lost their eligibility. He might get declined.
Edit: He is withdrawing his lawsuit, which will make him ineligible once again. Also, Tech confirmed they will “not seek the return” of any NIL payments made.
10,000 wagers? There are red flags then there are red flagsNew Texas Tech football quarterback Brendan Sorsby placed more than 10,000 wagers and at one point averaged 20 bets a day, national college sports site On3 reported on Wednesday, April 29.
That’s what I thought at first, he definitely has a problem though.
The Browns can pick him, right? He rec'd $5mm from TTU, owes $1mm to Cincy. A net gain of $4mm for not doing diddley. As they say, "it's good work if you can get it."
I find it unlikely he'll get drafted by an NFL team.
If I'm an NFL GM I wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole.He rec'd $5mm from TTU, owes $1mm to Cincy. A net gain of $4mm for not doing diddley. As they say, "it's good work if you can get it."

It would not surprise me there was a memo sent from the NFL office saying just that.If I'm an NFL GM I wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole.
Why would he think he could get away with anything? Nobody gets away with stuff like that, not in a great country like this. Those who break the rules, those who break the laws, those who trample on the Constitution and ignore court orders are always held accountable in this land of laws, not of kings, not of dictators. Someone will walk to the shiny light. Discounted price. If I'm an NFL GM I wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole.
Agreed. But...let him sue the NFL, then.He rec'd $5mm from TTU, owes $1mm to Cincy. A net gain of $4mm for not doing diddley. As they say, "it's good work if you can get it."

Which is funny that you say that. The NFL is a behemoth monopoly and as little as 5 or so years ago, so was the NCAA.Agreed. But...let him sue the NFL, then.
Not sure if that would fall under collusion. Probably be his next lawsuit anyway.....It would not surprise me there was a memo sent from the NFL office saying just that.

Pretty much what I was thinking. The NFL can endure a lot of shenanigans when there's football talent involved.NFL always needs QBs.
They will pursue Sorsby.
It will be like a silent auction with teams calculating what others will bid,ie.,how high a pick will they place on him?
I say 2nd round bid will land him.
The team that takes him will forfeit their equivalent round pick in the next regular draft, so they also have to consider how much they value that pick.NFL always needs QBs.

I really like your tongue in cheek take on the hijinks going on in our country. Why would he think he could get away with anything? It has NY Jets written all over it.The team that takes him will forfeit their equivalent round pick in the next regular draft, so they also have to consider how much they value that pick.
You may be right about 2nd round. I saw one story where anonymous GMs were valuing him as high as second, although the consensus seemed to be third round was more likely. Interestingly, according to these sources Sorsby potentially could have been a first round pick and the second QB chosen if he had entered the most recent draft rather than opting for TTU.
True, but it's also an opportunity for the Browns to do the Browniest thing to ever Brown. It has NY Jets written all over it.
For sure. Browns and Jets. I can't see anyone else doing it.True, but it's also an opportunity for the Browns to do the Browniest thing to ever Brown.

They got their QB now, and now that Brady has a share in the Raiders I assume they turn that decision over to him for QBs.Seems like Raider's thing to do too...
The 86 Rose Bowl, lolThe first time he misses an easy pass in an important situation and game, fans will be wondering if he is playing honest.
And even the best NFL quarterbacks have missed easy passes, nobody is perfect. Tom Brady, Joe Montana, John Unitas, even great QBs threw passes they wished they could have back.
With Sorsby fans would always be wondering.
