Also something to keep an eye on, and let me provide this disclaimer that “I WANT IT TO WORK WITH POPE”, so I’m not saying anything to the contrary….Batt has a strong relationship with Oats. Belief by some on KSBoard is that the likelihood of Oats being the next coach at Kentucky just went up significantly, if Pope doesn’t knock it out of the park.
That is a great point. If Pope doesn’t work… we now have a legit in to get him.

1. I am glad to move off Mitch's tree...no Marc Hill, Dwayne Peavy, etc...
2. Sounds like a fund raiser which matters in NIL era...and maybe not be so ultra conservative in paying players/JMI deals
3. The bigger part to me...is can he find talent for Football and BBall.
- Hired Brent Key at Ga Tech...whose been fantastic
- Hired Patt SUllivan back at Mich St....yet to be if he'll be a good re-hire from Northwestern
- HIred Damon Stoudamire as Ga BBall coach,...and he did a bad job and was fired

He's not got a ton of experience in identifying coaches....so we'll see if he has to hire Pope's replacement soon how well he can execute. I am assuming Stein will be fine for a good while.
He will have a much higher level of coaches to recruit from here in Bball. Plus he hired Oats which is like the perfect guy for us to hire in the future if he can…

My bet is that Batt has had great praise for Mitch in the past and they have a history. But, I don’t want to spoil the party. This is a disaster!!!

I dont know much about the guy. I just hope he is an AD who will set expectations with the coaches and hold their feet to fire when they fail to meet those standards. It just seemed to me that coaches got lazy under Barnhart's oversight. Even if they started out well, after a few years they acted like they could do the least bit to get by and became entitled acting. Seemed to me that it was more of a buddy buddy relationship with Barnhart than an employer-employee relationship. Thank God he is retiring!

I trust our fan base. Capiluto is a crook, according to them. If Capiluto picked Batt we need to hate Batt and slam his arse at every turn. The brilliant insiders who understand college athletics better than those actually involved have spoken. Batt must suck because Capiluto sucks.

You stupid focks don’t see what is happening. Batt spent five years working as the deputy athletics director for Greg Byrne at Alabama. Byrne is a well-known protege of Mitch Barnhart, having followed Barnhart from Oregon State to Kentucky in 2002 to serve as an associate athletic. Wake up you damn conspiracy nuts!!!

Is it just me or could he pass as Will Stein’s brother?
I just hope he loves him like a brother and does whatever it takes to help Will take Kentucky Football to the top of the SEC. With the right AD and Head coach of course, I’ve always thought we were a sleeping giant. He’s no doubt going to be great for the basketball program so this seems like a home run.

Too bad these moves weren’t made in like 2019-2020. The timeline of the AD and coach Stein’s careers don’t matchup. If Cal had a young energetic fundraiser he could get along with that would actually hold him accountable for performance. Along with a young energetic football coach like Stein overhauling the FB program who knows where we may be by now. That said, I hope both Pope and Stein start really getting us to the top again soon and this new AD can get us to the place we need to go to compete for years to come.

Dude, just give your Barnhart love a rest already.
Good grief.

Georgia Tech did well in football under his leadership. Basketball sucked.
GT basketball has sucked since they went to that miracle final four in like 2003-ish maybe 04? They should be a lot better with the ATL and south basketball scene. I guess Georgia outshines them for most athletes though.

Not what I like to hear. I’m going to trust that Oats and Izzo giving him vote of confidence means he will keep UK what we expect. I think having questions and reservations is fair though right now.
