It’s funny that a lot of the game thread is people complaining about swinging at the first pitch, especially with RISP and 2 outs. Nobody was upset when Hynek did it because it was hit 430 feet.

Taking the first strike under Fox hurt us many times at the CWS, I was sitting next to our dugout during the CWS years ago and I told Moran to swing away at their first pitch fastball, he smiled and laughed.

Top notch pitchers love knowing you will not swing until too late...

Man, you lost. Give it up. Bad take! If you’re going to repeatedly have outlandish takes, learn to own when you’re wrong.
I gave him credit for the hit? You go look at all the catchers and rank them and get back to me. That’s why I gave him credit but also you can point out he’s the worst catchers in Omaha. It’s just facts. I’m a heels fan but also recognize truth.

I mean, Hynek’s got a better Avg, more RBIs, and a better OPS than the catcher on the team they played last night, but go off.

I give him credit he’s had some big hits. It’s also okay to recognize he’s the worst catcher in Omaha.

Are you running two accounts at the same time?

I wanted to point out two huge plays last night that saved at least a run each.

First, the play Schaffner made on the 9-hitter on the chopper that almost beat the shift between doubles in the 3rd. They got a run that inning but if that’s a hit it might have been 3.

Then the play Nicholson made on Utermark with 2 on and 2 outs after that nonsensical bloop hit in the 5th.

They both made those plays look routine, but those same plays aren’t always made in college baseball.

Anybody watching Texas? What good is a catcher with better hitting numbers if he can’t do the most important thing: catch and throw the baseball? Dude just cost his team 2 runs and his pitcher maybe 25 pitches.
