Some relevancy to Rutgers- Greg is on the list.
The fact that Vegas set the o/u so low without many of the big boys on the schedule is very telling. It has to happen this year.Some relevancy to Rutgers- Greg is on the list.
@RUTGERS95 , @kupuna133 , @AreYouNUTS --This guy must be another one of those "haters" that the Greg fanboys and bootlickers call out so many times.
This guy could not have said the bold part any better. . . .
"Rutgers will beat UMass and Howard. Road games at Boston College, Maryland, Northwestern, and Wisconsin are all 50/50 battles, and home games against Nebraska and Michigan State are winnable.
That just puts the pressure on. If you're not going to show something big in a year when you miss, Ohio State, Oregon, Illinois, and Iowa, and get Indiana and Michigan at home ..."
Sounds like 2024 all over again. I'd be surprised if he got fired this year, though. That said, he needs to at least produce a winning record in conference.Some relevancy to Rutgers- Greg is on the list.

A winning record in Conference? Greg has never done that in the B1G..and in fact he has a bottom dweller 23% winning record. If we win 3 B1G games this season that would be a surprise and step in the right direction.Sounds like 2024 all over again. I'd be surprised if he got fired this year, though. This is all true, but if he can't win 5 games in conference when the schedule includes floundering programs like Michigan State, Northwestern, Maryland, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, what are we doing?A winning record in Conference? Here's a guy who won a share of a conference championship as a Rutgers HC!This is all true, but if he can't win 5 games in conference when the schedule includes floundering programs like Michigan State, Northwestern, Maryland, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, what are we doing?
And would have won the conference outright if a fake punt TD wasn't called back because of a questionable illegal man downfield penalty.Here's a guy who won a share of a conference championship as a Rutgers HC!

But, but, but, but only Greg. . . . .And would have won the conference outright if a fake punt TD wasn't called back because of a questionable illegal man downfield penalty.
Also an inflection point in the direction of the program. If they win that game, RU goes to the Orange Bowl. That probably buys him a few more years. The Ash era (error) is avoided. Maybe we don't get Schiano 2.0.But, but, but, but only Greg. . . . .
But, those were Greg's players.
The question is whether Greg would have produced similar results with those players. I think there would have been at least 2 additional WTF losses.But, but, but, but only Greg. . . . .

Vegas is about money. They don't do deep dives into team personnel, which makes a difference. Only the top few teams are known.The fact that Vegas set the o/u so low without many of the big boys on the schedule is very telling. It has to happen this year.
Vegas does the deepest of deep dives. Old intern of mine left a cushy job on Wall st to take over analytics for a sports book in Vegas. Toured their operation 15 years ago. It would blow away most major hedge funds research departments.Vegas is about money. They don't do deep dives into team personnel, which makes a difference. Only the top few teams are known.
A lot of schools are open to it, but others don't have the time to open up to these organizations. I asked several of my contacts at different schools years ago about DraftKings, ESPN bet, etc., what do you think? In their eyes, they don't want everything published. Just like Schiano is close-lipped on his team, that approach is more common than you think. I do know there is some resistance to it. Those who open up are doing so because their leagues require it.Vegas does the deepest of deep dives. Old intern of mine left a cushy job on Wall st to take over analytics for a sports book in Vegas. They’re not relying only on “public” intel. And if you don’t think they have people willing to talk I don’t know what to tell you. It’s not about what’s available it’s about whats not.A lot of schools are open to it, but others don't have the time to open up to these organizations. Oh, I know they have people willing to talk. I also know info is being given to help create the narrative they want published. It's a cat-and-mouse game between schools and those who evaluate them. I can tell you about one (MWC) school that fired several people for talking to a local media person about the team. The media person was a friend of the program. The info wasn't published, and plenty of people in the program had little knowledge of the info. The fear was that the info could sway the perception of the program and expectations.They’re not relying only on “public” intel. Like I said it’s telling that the expectations and initial line is so low. Vegas had to set the market so low to get 2 sided action.Oh, I know they have people willing to talk. BINGO!!!Like I said it’s telling that the expectations and initial line is so low. Vegas had to set the market so low to get 2 sided action.
Agree 100%This is all true, but if he can't win 5 games in conference when the schedule includes floundering programs like Michigan State, Northwestern, Maryland, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, what are we doing?
Does his name rhyme with Gobb With?also;
The 2012 Rutgers Scarlet Knights football defense was one of the most elite units in the country, boasting the 8th ranked scoring defense (18.3 points per game) and the 14th ranked total defense (314.2 yards allowed per game) nationally.
anyone wanna wager who the D coach was?
It tells you that Vegas wants to keep their book balanced.The fact that Vegas set the o/u so low without many of the big boys on the schedule is very telling. It has to happen this year.
Winning record in conference LOL. He’d be well under .500 coaching both sides in the spring game. He’s good at three things: losing, stealing salary and crying like a baby after beating a hapless team that hadn’t won a conference game in two years, a fluke win at that. Hall of Fame in those things, Hall of Shame in everything else footballSounds like 2024 all over again. I'd be surprised if he got fired this year, though. That said, he needs to at least produce a winning record in conference.
Yea in order to attract action on both sides they had to set the market that low. Exactly what I said.It tells you that Vegas wants to keep their book balanced.
Not to mention two very suspect teams in Penn State and Michigan, who went through complete overhauls and are complete wild cards this yearThis is all true, but if he can't win 5 games in conference when the schedule includes floundering programs like Michigan State, Northwestern, Maryland, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, what are we doing?
Greg had even better defenses than that as well as offenses where his OL was top 5 in college in giving up the least sacks. He had an offense that was the first in history to have a 3k passer 2k RB and two 1k WR and he couldn’t do it.also;

I would agree somewhat on Penn State. Michigan, not so much. The talent and coaching gap between RU and Michigan is significant. Willingham is a big time coach. He's a big upgrade over Coach Grab@ss.Not to mention two very suspect teams in Penn State and Michigan, who went through complete overhauls and are complete wild cards this year
you'll have to show your data on defense because that's not even close to accurate.Greg had eleven better defenses than that as well as offenses where his OL was top 5 in college in giving up the least sacks. He had an offense that was the first in history to have a 3k passer 2k RB and two 1k WR and he couldn’t do it.
Flood had issues but when it came to game day coaching, he was much better than Greg

2006 was better, 2009 was elite, 2011 was equal. What the hell are you talking about. Sure- if you want to argue I said “better” and you want to prove that is not “exactly” correct. But GS 1.0 had at least 3 defenses that were just as eliteyou'll have to show your data on defense because that's not even close to accurate.
I posted all the data on the round table with the DC via a complete list of years. Greg had one year better
Now help me on the 11 better defenses unless sports-reference data is wrong;
Total and Scoring

Rob Smith was 2012(#10), 2021(#43), 2022(#38), and 2025 (#118). Of note, none of the kids in 2025 were his and were hand picked by Greg. When Greg took over, against the easier part of the schedule, the D was not better
Looks like Rob Smith was the scapegoat for an awful job by Greg. One COULD argue, Rob Smith was Greg's best DC
I'm not arguing, you said 11 better defenses but the data only supports 12006 was better, 2009 was elite, 2011 was equal. What the hell are you talking about. Sure- if you want to argue I said “better” and you want to prove that is not “exactly” correct. But GS 1.0 had at least 3 defenses that were just as elite
Now it makes sense- I typed “even” and damn phone changed to eleven. I just fixed it. BTW- ON3 mobile on the phone still sucks.I'm not arguing, you said 11 better defenses but the data only supports 1
that data also says Rob Smith had the highest average defenses we've ever had.
No worries my friend. Also, tone doesn't translate on here. I was only saying, not being combativeNow it makes sense- I typed “even” and damn phone changed to eleven. I just fixed it. BTW- ON3 mobile on the phone still sucks.
but understand your point now. You saw eleven and you were right to shake your head with a WTF. lol
