I agree completely, however...

IU was 3-8 in '24, then they hire Cignetti. and go 11-2 in his first season. I doubt Cignetti's first-year roster would've been much better than Stein's. I don't know that for sure, but it stands to reason.

The right coach with the right system can work wonders. Fingers crossed.
Cignetti brought his team with him. Plus played a fairly weak BIG10 schedule.
Stein is starting from scratch & that is a MEGA TOUGH Schedule.
Just creating a buzz around KY FB & getting rid of Stoops is a major victory for BBN

I voted 10+ but probably realistically 9-3. Can't see us losing more than a couple really. AM and Okla. are probably losses. All other games are at least toss ups and we probably have the best coach in the country and comparable talent to most teams we play. This ain't your mother's UK FB. I look for us to be in the hunt ofr a playoff berth but for sure next year and then possible natty in 28. Sky is the limit. But for now I'll go 9-3/10-2
@ruppsrunt1 apparently sucks

I like your optimism, but I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment. I think the basketball team has a better chance of winning a Natty than the football team gas of winning 10 games. I think in a world where almost everything goes right its gonna be 6-7 wins top

I’d go with this as well except, I think he’s gonna steal the Alabama game and yes I know that sounds crazy. It’s beginning of the year, and Stein’s Cats will be virtually unscouted and hard to prepare for with enough talent to compete and a down Alabama by their standards.
I think we win one game we are not supposed to win, so I picked Bama because DeBoer is not Saban

Ya it isn't even close to the same situation. Anytime someone points at cignetti as an example for why anyone can do it, you automatically know they have no clue about football.

Cignetti is a great coach. He brought most of his jmu team and played an ungodly weak schedule. He was destroyed by every team with a pulse.

Second year IU found major nil. They bought the best qb on the market who ended up going #1 overall and other key pieces. Then played another weak schedule but won all their games even if it took miracles.

Again, he is a legitimately great coach. When you give a great coach whatever money it takes to get his guys, while playing a weak schedule, you will get a good result.

Offense should be clicking much better in the second half of the season, the UL game is probably 50/50 but beat UF and we can possibly win six. I’ll take that but if this staff can coach like they recruit, who knows. Just want to see a program where we’re pressing on offense and not sitting back in prevent on defense.

Look at the schedule they played that year and the end results for each team, it was a cake walk.:
FIU: 4-8
Central Mich: 4-8
@UCLA: 5-7
Charlotte: 5-7
maryland: 4-8
@Northwestern: 4-8
Nebraska: 7-6
Washington: 6-7
@Mich State: 5-7
Michigan: 8-5
OSU: 14-2
Purdue: 1-11
Don't matter. Still the big 10 and every week is a big challenge. Or that's what people said when stoops won 9 games a couple times

Not sure if this is sarcasm, but in both 10 win seasons, UK played 3 fbs teams in each season that didn't make bowls. There were at 7 on IU's 2024 schedule.

He's not for real, just place him on ignore. It's the same dumb kid that was using the Gov Andy pic on all his new accounts.

I think it's only rational based on the schedule to expect a losing record therefore I would say a 6-6 record would have Stein exceeding expectations for his first year.

Nothing like bringing 2 star talent in to your program
Idk how many stars they had but they knew his system and he just won a national championship with them. I'm not sure what your point is but mine is that Stein was unable to bring nearly as many players so it may take him longer to get to the top.
